FOR FUN It's Jack O'Lantern Time! Nothing says Halloween like a Jack O'Lantern. Add some Halloween flavor to your home by carving a pumpkin! Templates Include: 6 Friendly Faces 13 Silly Faces 21 Scary Faces 2016 International Paper Company. All rights reserved. Hammermill is a registered trademark, and Paper for Life and logo are trademarks of International Paper Company.
It's Jack O'Lantern Time! Pumpkin carving is a fun way to join in the Halloween spirit. Here are some pumpkin carving templates to make carving your own Jack O'Lantern easy! You can choose a scary face, a silly face or a friendly face. What You Will Need Hammermill Paper A pumpkin Tape A carving knife / Pumpkin carving kit Newspapers or a garbage bag A big spoon A jar lid A large candle Note: This activity is involves using a sharp knife and burning candle. It is probably best conducted by an adult under the careful supervision of a young one.
It's Jack O'Lantern Time! Let s Get Started! Once you have selected your pumpkin and brought it home, you're ready to get started. 1 Print out our Pumpkin Carving Templates. 2 Spread newspapers or a garbage bag out on a large table or the floor. 3 Put the pumpkin in the middle of the newspapers. 4 Use the carving knife to open a hole at the top of the pumpkin (around the stem). Make sure the hole is big enough to fit your hand.
It's Jack O'Lantern Time! 5 Using the stem, lift the top of the pumpkin. You may have to pull quite a bit or even use the knife to cut the strings that are attached to the lid of the pumpkin. 6 Use the knife to scrape the bottom of the pumpkin lid until it is clean. 7 Cut a notch out of the pumpkin lid so the candle can breathe. 8 Using a large spoon and/or your hands, remove the seeds and stringy stuff inside the pumpkin. 9 Scrape the inside until the pumpkin is clean.
It's Jack O'Lantern Time! 10 Tape the template of the face you want to carve to the outside of the pumpkin. 11 Using the template as your guide, cut out the features of your Jack O'Lantern. First trace the features of your template using small cuts or a pen to poke holes. Next, remove the template and finish cutting out your features. 12 Light the candle. 13 Drip a little hot wax onto the jar inside of the jar lid. 14 Blow out the candle and quickly place it on the melted wax. 15 Place the lid & candle into the Jack O'Lantern. 16 Light the candle. 17 Replace the pumpkin lid on top. 18 Put the Jack O'Lantern in a safe place away from curtains or anything flammable. 19 You're done! Enjoy your Halloween! Bonus: You can take the pumpkin seeds you have removed from the pumpkin and place them on a baking tray, salt them and bake them for a healthy Fall treat!
