Indian Sedimentary Basins 3

Basin Category A new 3-tier category for 26 basins Category I: 7 basins which are commercially producing from established petroleum resources Category II: 5 basins which have established petroleum resources but are yet to produce commercially Category III: 14 basins which have prognosticated resources assessed and are under exploration, still to find hydrocarbon Category I Category II OALP BLOCKS-ON-OFFER (BID ROUND I) DGH NOIDA FEBRUARY 2018 Category III A simplified approach to present the Category based on the instances of discovery and commercial production Category III ( Prospective ) and Category IV ( Potentially Prospective ) are now combined 4

Basins per Category Category I Category I: (1) Assam Shelf, (2) Assam-Arakan Fold Belt, (3) Cambay, (4) Cauvery, (5) Rajasthan, (6) Mumbai and (7) Krishna-Godavari Category II: (1) Andaman, (2) Mahanadi, (3) Kutch, (4) Saurashtra and (5) Vindhyan Category III: (1) Kerala- Konkan, (2) Bengal- Purnea, 3) Himalayan Foreland, (4) Ganga- Punjab, (5) Karewa, (6) Spiti-Zanskar, (7) Narmada, (8) Satpura- SouthRewa-Damodar, (9) Deccan Syneclise, (10) Bhima-Kaladgi, (11) Bastar, (12) Chattisgarh, (13) Pranhita-Godavari and (14) Cuddapah Category II Category III Basins, namely Saurashtra and Vindhyan are now into Category II for reported discoveries OALP BLOCKS-ON-OFFER (BID ROUND I) DGH NOIDA FEBRUARY

Basin Areas Basins are mapped using latest GIS application and coordinate reference system Category I Category II Category III Boundaries are remapped, deepwater areas added to respective basins, new areas identified and included Shallow water is mapped between 0 to 400m isobath and deepwater between 400m and Exclusive Economic Zone ( EEZ ) Earlier shallow water was limited to 200m isobath, it is now 400m isobath Total area: 3.36 million sq km Onland and Shallow water: 2.04 million sq km ( ) Deepwater: 1.32 million sq km OALP BLOCKS-ON-OFFER (BID ROUND I) DGH NOIDA FEBRUARY

Hydrocarbon Resource Reassessment 7

Overview of the Study A comprehensive geoscientific study was carried out for hydrocarbon resource reassessment for all 26 basins Assessment was done for conventional reservoirs (shale, coal or gas hydrate excluded) 13 basins with adequate datasets were assessed through Petroleum System Modeling 9 basins complete (Assam Shelf, Cambay, Rajasthan, Mumbai, KG, Cauvery, Mahanadi, Bengal-Purnea and Kerala-Konkan) 4 basins in part (Assam Arakan, Andaman, Kutch and Saurashtra) A total of 177 Plays identified 87 in Tertiary, 53 in Mesozoic, 37 Pre-Mesozoic New plays were identified: Mesozoic reservoirs were identified in 14 basins Basement fractures in many new discoveries 27-month long study, carried out at 7 work centers by Multi- Organization Team ( MOT ) of ONGC-OIL-DGH Key procedures and results were reviewed by international subjectexperts and Indian basin-experts Monitored periodically by NSC at MoP&NG 8

Reassessment Results Hydrocarbon resources were assessed for 26 sedimentary basins across onland, shallow water and deepwater Inplace reassessed: 41,872 MMTOE (315 BBBLOE) Discovered: 12,076 MMTOE ( 85 BBBLOE) Undiscovered: 29,796 MMTOE (230 BBBLOE) Last assessment done in for 15 sedimentary basins : Total inplace: 28,085 MMTOE (210 BBBLOE) Increase of total hydrocarbon estimate: 49.1% Assessment using industry-standard latest software Assessment at the level of Play and Unit / Segment Complete database are now available with all geoscientific information 9
