1 Rome Police Department Monthly Report June 2016 Meetings/Training Attended During the month of June I attended Town Board, and PFC meetings. Calls for Service, Citations, and Written Warnings In June officers handled 97 calls for service, and issued 119 citations and 80 written warnings. Department Activities/Announcements I would like to remind citizens that the Rome Police Department offers a safe and secure way to dispose of expired or unwanted prescription medication. We encourage everyone who has unneeded prescription medication to bring it to the Rome Police Department where it can be placed in a secured receptacle. Doing so keeps dangerous prescription medications out of our landfills and helps to ensure these medications do not fall into the wrong hands. The Rome Police Department has seen a dramatic increase in the number cases involving the abuse of prescription medication and we want to offer everyone a safe and secure method of disposing of their medications. The police department continues to try to control the discharge of illegal fireworks. We have issued several citations and are doing what we can to get the word out that with dry conditions in our area, fireworks are a disaster waiting to happen. This is still a common violation in Rome but we will continue our efforts to enforce fireworks regulations the best we can. Residents are urged to call the police department to report violations of illegal fireworks. We took delivery of the 2016 Squad in June and I continue to work at the up fitting of the vehicle. Some of the camera system equipment is on back-order causing a delay in finishing the up fitting of the vehicle. I would anticipate it to be complete by the end of July. I have the 2009 Dodge Charger in the lot for sealed bid which are due by July 21 at 4pm the confirmation of sale will be on that dates board meeting. I would like to thank the Wisconsin Rapids ABRA Auto Body and Glass for the generous donation of material and labor costs to repaint the driver s door on that vehicle. I would anticipate resale will be significantly increased as a result. Jason Lauby Chief of Police
