1 Unified Life Sciences A Scientifically Proven Multidimensional Approach to the Health of Body, Mind, and Spirit Statistics on Frequency of Profile in the Human Design System, Basic Human Design Chart By Eleanor Haspel-Portner, Ph.D. Abstract: Profile is a structural phenomenon of Human Design System Calculation and represents a confirmation of the structural integrity of the System itself. It shows a regular frequency of occurrence in the general population with all Foundation Profiles having consistent frequencies and all Changing Profiles having consistent frequencies across all Hexagram Lines. Introduction In the Human Design System two calculations are used to construct the body graph. The first calculation is made using the birth date, time, and place of birth for an individual. The second calculation in the Basic Solar Design Chart (SDC) is made at 88 Solar degrees before birth for that individual. Because the calculation is made at 88 Solar degrees rather than at 90 Solar degrees an interesting phenomenon occurs in the way the Sun/Earth Lines connect with the Design Sun/Earth Lines in a SDC. It is the movement of the Sun/Earth Lines in the SDC that defines Profile for an individual. In other words, Profile is a concept derived from the calculation of the Personality Sun/Earth and the Design Sun/Earth in the SDC. Because the Lines of Personality Sun/Earth are opposite each other, they activate the same Line number in a hexagram; the lines of the Design Sun/Earth, with its 88 Solar degree calculation, establishes the Profile. HDS theory sees a fundamental duality governing the programming of an individual along with the duality of the Sun and Earth. The theory says that the Sun through the neutrino stream produces an ocean of programming concretized and grounded through the Earth. Research Methodology Sampling is of critical importance in any scientific study. Preliminarily, a group of 5000 general population birth dates were randomly selected by Neutrinos for Unified Life Sciences for the years 1917 through 1975 to approximate the clinical subgroup populations with which we were working (i.e., Fibromyalgia patients from our medical practice, an addict group, i.e., patients who had been treated in an addiction clinic, an AIDS group, a heart attack group). In astrological research, as in other research, it is crucial to use the same time frames so that variables related to global conditions that might be influential equally affect the study groups. In astrological terms, for example, a transit of Pluto or Neptune should be equally present in all charts under consideration or the results might be skewed and misleading. In addition, adjustments for latitude and longitude must be made and considered. All of these issues were controlled in our samples. Because our data is astrologically related, we worked with a paradigm that is astrologically and scientifically rigorous. The astrological methodology meets the 1

2 standard for astrological research set forth by Astrodatabank. It also meets social scientific research design standards. After delineating our sample parameters and groups, the birth chart data was imported into the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for analysis. An outside statistician was consulted for verification of data processing and results. Initial frequency statistics were run. We replicated the results with two other groups of 5000 random birth dates also between 1917 and Two additional randomized groups of general population charts for the years were run. These charts were generated by Jigsaw, a different astrological program than Neutrinos for Unified Life Sciences. By using two different programs to generate our database we felt secure that we were not skewing the database in any unknown and/or regular way. This technique helped us feel that our data was clean and could meet the test of statistical scrutiny. We, thus, analyzed 5 general population samples of 5000 each and compared them for frequency of occurrence of Profile. In total, with our clinical groups included, we analyzed over 30,000 controlled sample case records. Results All general populations showed the same basic frequencies in distribution of Profile through the SDC. The Foundation Cross Profiles have a frequency of occurrence distributed equally across all Foundation Crosses of about percent for each. The Changing Cross Profiles are also equally distributed in frequency across all Changing Crosses at about 2 percent each. This regularity of occurrence of frequency speaks to the structural integrity of the calculation and its distribution in the general population. Because of the regularity of occurrences of the frequencies and the small spread of distribution between the percentages in the Foundation Profile Crosses and in the Changing Profile Crosses no Z-Test statistics were deemed necessary. It is sufficient to say that the significance between the occurrences of the two different kinds of Crosses is apparent and is structural within the calculation itself. Interpretation A premise in HDS theory is that everyone comes into the world with a specific Profile that shows his or her purpose. HDS theory says that through this Profile an individual can see how to attain fulfillment. Profiling is rooted in the understanding of the nature and structure of the hexagram, which is built on six lines or six sub-themes. Each of these Lines is an archetype within itself. As one moves through the Wheel using the 88-degree calculation of the SDC, the hexagram Lines change accordingly. 4 The occurrence of the regularity of frequency of occurrence for all Foundation Cross Profiles and for all Changing Cross Profiles in consistent pattern of regularity confirms the structural integrity of the calculation of the Profiling system. It differentiates a structural component of the Body Graph that is mechanical and mathematically based. In the same way that we expect about a 50/50 percentage split in the binary of male and females in the population, we expect the distribution of a general population to be fairly regular around the zodiac wheel and in terms of birth date occurrence. The Profiling calculation confirms that indeed the general population is a diverse sample of people who are distributed throughout the zodiac wheel and who as a totality make up a whole that is greater than any of the parts. Because the frequency of regularity of Profiles is based on the mechanical calculation of the SDC itself and of the Hexagram Structure of the I-Ching Lines, we have a reliable confirmation of the structural integrity of the HDS SDC. Conclusion The regularity of frequency of occurrence of Profiles as distributed throughout the general population in a pattern confirming the Line structure of the Hexagram in conjunction with the Sun/Earth calculation in the Basic Solar Design Chart (SDC), confirms the structural integrity of the Human Design System (HDS) SDC. While these frequency statistics do not address the integrity of any interpretation placed on the Profiles based on this structure, it does validate the calculation as a differentiating one that is reliable and of value.
