SNOW REMOVERS www.holms.com ATTACHMENTS WITH CLEVER PARTS
Holms an innovative attachment supplier The foundations for Holms Industri AB were laid in 1927 by Edvin Sandström, who produced high-quality horseshoes. During the 1930s and 40s, the business expanded to include the manufacture of spades and cartridge clips. After the war, the company began developing clever attachments for tractors in cooperation with Bolinder Munktell and Volvo. The fi rst sweeper was launched in 1951, quickly followed by the fi rst snowplow. During the 60s and 70s, pick-up sweepers such as Master 600, Master 601 and the automatic Kompis sweeper were produced. At the end of the 1980s, Holms launched its balanced sweeper roller without support wheels a unique product on the market! By 1995, Holms had also perfected the balance on its pick-up sweepers, which led to the launch of Holms 300. If you look more closely at the current range of Holms attachments for tractors and wheel-loaders, you will see a long line of clever parts, which together form attachments with high functionality adapted to suit carriers of all types. Today, Holms is owned and run by the third generation of the Sandström family. Production and the company s head offi ce can still be found where it all began the Holms industrial district in Motala. We have a factory area of 10,000 mç and around 60 employees. Our aim is very much to develop the industry s top attachments and to make them available to our customers. We have our own sales company in the USA, but all other sales are handled by our dealers in Sweden and many other countries. Our share of exports is approximately 50 %. Our goal is to expand by offering the best attachments on the market at competitive prices and with short delivery times that we always meet. We also aim to provide the market s best customer support. Our product range currently includes attachments for sweeping and snow removal. Choose the right snowplow! V-plow or diagonal plow? Holms plows are robust, effective tools for professional snow-clearing. These plows are designed for drivers with high requirements drivers who require easy-to-drive, durable and safe plows with low maintenance costs and a long service life. Holms plows must meet the stringent demands of customers for cost-efficient contract activities. V-plows are normally the most effective choice in urban environments. You can control the blade for moving snow to the left or right, to both sides or collecting forwards from the cab. With the plow in the Y-position, you can easily collect the snow in larger piles for removal later. This option is often used for clearing open spaces, car parks and market squares. Of course, you can also clear roads using a V-plow open a snowy road using the plow in the centre position and then clear in the normal way with the plow in the diagonal position. With the help of a Holms Electrohydraulic selector unit you can easily control both blade halves in parallel, just like a diagonal plow. Diagonal plows are best used for clearing snow off roads. As V-plows are more complex, they also cost slightly more than the equivalent diagonal plows. If you mainly intend to clear roads, the diagonal plow is the most cost-effective option. For tasks involving cramped environments, a lower plow is preferable, as the blade has a smaller curve, making it easier to get close to house walls and cars and to retain good visibility. In areas where there is normally a lot of snow and where road clearing is usually required, the higher plows may be preferable. The higher diagonal plow option has a more pronounced curve that rolls out snow better. Higher plows can deal with more snow, but also weigh more. 4
Width? It is the wheel width of the machine that determines the minimum width of the plow. The plow, when fully turned, must cover the wheel width of the machine. The required plow s optimum width is determined by how accessible the area to be cleared is and how much weight the machine can cope with. Single or double pendulation? Plows with single pendulation follow the slope of the hill across the direction of travel. The single pendulation on Holms plows is achieved using a rubber bushing in the centre section. The maximum turning is +/- 9. The selected degree (pendulation turning) is a balance between the ability to follow the slope of the hill/road and angling in transport position. Double pendulation means that the plow follows the hill both across the direction of travel and in the direction of travel. For the driver, this means a more comfortable and softer ride, while clearing results also improve, particularly on very bumpy ground. Holms plows can handle pendulation in the direction of travel thanks to the rubber bushings in Holms patented Floatarm TM. 5
Holms clever parts Adjusting the ground pressure With the right ground pressure every time, you get a safe and comfortable ride, while reducing wear and the risk of lateral dispersal. For loaders, compact loaders and tractors with loaders, we recommend Holms Floatarm. With the help of the tilt, you can easily and rapidly adjust the ground pressure of the plow blade. In order to use the Floatarm s function fully, the loader arms must not be in the float position. The risk of lateral dispersal reduces with the right ground pressure and the adjustment can be made rapidly while on the move, as it is only the blade s ground pressure that is changed, not the weight of the entire plow. With the Holms Floatarm you also get a built-in, smooth pendulation in the direction of travel. Increase the pressure. Tilt forward. Reduce the pressure. Tilt backwards. The benefits of Floatarm TM Closely follows the surface Less risk of lateral dispersal Ground pressure adapts to the surface while on the move Lower fuel consumption Less edge wear Quieter operation Higher speed More comfortable and smooth operation 6
Safety Of course, spring mounted edges and shock valves are standard for comfortable operation and high safety. All Holms plows have spring-mounted runners, which means the runner recedes for low solid ground obstacles and then springs back to its normal position. If you happen to drive over a large solid side obstacle, the plow blade recedes thanks to the shock valves. Electrohydraulic selector unit For machines with only a third hydraulic function, you can easily control Holms V-plows using an electrohydraulic selector unit. With this unit you maneuver each plow blade individually or both together with the diagonal plow function. Choose between cable and radio controlled. Cable controlled selector unit With one cable from the attachment into the drivers cabin where it is connected into a electrical outlet you maneuver Holms V-plows. Radio controlled selector unit A receiver is mounted on the attachment ready for the signal from the sender inside the drivers cabin. The sender is connected to the electrical outlet. 7

Adjusting the ground pressure/floatarm - for loaders, compact loaders and tractors with loaders, we recommend the Holms Floatarm. Three-point linkage if you want a plow with double pendulation for tractors, a hydraulic arm is required to be able to lift the plow high enough in the transport position. We have strived to get the plow s three-point linkage as close to the tractor as possible without the plow touching the tyres. The distance varies slightly between tractor models. Running lights standard for larger plows and optional for smaller ones. Snow guard optional for plow widths 3.2, 3.6 and 4.0 metres. Adjustable support plates or support wheels is optional. Holms diagonal plows Holms diagonal plows are well-tested for efficient snow clearing, particularly when clearing roads. Holms smaller plows are 0.8 m high. Diagonal plows measuring 3.2 metres wide are 0.8 or 1.0 metre high. For tasks involving cramped environments/built-up areas, a lower plow is preferable, as the blade has a smaller curve, making it easier to get close to house walls and cars and to retain good visibility. In areas where there is normally a lot of snow and where road clearing is usually required, the higher plows may be preferable. The higher diagonal plow option has a more pronounced curve that rolls out snow better, can deal with more snow, but also weighs more. Single pendulation for machines with SMS, Euro or 3-point coupling, Holms diagonal plow is called TKH. For machines with other attachments, the model is called TKHP. Double pendulation for double pendulation use model TKHP. Adjusting the ground pressure/floatarm - for loaders, compact loaders and tractors with loaders, we recommend the Holms Floatarm. High safety spring mounted edges and shock valves are standard for safe and comfortable operation. Three-point coupling if you want a plow with double pendulation for tractors, a hydraulic arm is required to be able to lift the plow high enough in the transport position. We have strived to get the plow s three-point linkage as close to the tractor as possible without the plow touching the tyres. The distance varies slightly between tractor models. Holms sand spreading bucket Holms tools are always among the very best on the market. Our rear-mounted sand spreading bucket SB 1,0 and front-mounted sand spreading bucket SB 2,4 are very stable buckets with the perfect design for good release of sand, salt and grit. A bucket where you can easily control the spreading quantity. A bucket that can easily be filled from material piles. Obviously, the bucket has a hydraulic solution that minimises the temperature increase and which leaves the maximum flow for operation of the machine. A sand spreading bucket that copes with a salty environment and is, therefore, hot-galvanised. More expensive, but definitely more economical in the long run. The mixer is an optional extra often, but not always, you have to use material containing lumps and, therefore, we offer a mixer as an optional extra. The mixer works by using a rocking motion instead of rotating to minimise the risk of serious personal injuries. The right spreading quantity there is a speed regulator on the bucket as standard. The right spreading quantity means ensuring non-slip surface at the lowest possible material cost. A speed regulator that is controlled from the cab in order to be able to vary the spreading quantity while on the move, we have come up with an optional speed regulator with cabling from the bucket to the cab. An investment that pays for itself by saving material.
