T COE: THE CHOICE Comem S.p.. makes use of four main characteristics in order to be successful on the market as manufacturing leader for off circuit tap changers: Sturdiness: Comem S.p.. uses only first-quality bakelite, usually used even for on load tap changers. We do not use either impregnated transformer boards or plastic materials in the structural components. Designing: Comem S.p.. designs its tap changers with the greatest care paying particular attention to market s needs. The designing makes use of the most up-to-date software to finite elements for the study of electrical fields and mechanical stresses (page ). Reliability: Comem S.p.. makes use of a forty years experience in the manufacturing of accessories and components for transformers. 1. GENERL INFORTION 1.1PRESENTTION T series off-circuit tap changers have been manufactured to be used in oil-insulated transformers and they have been designed for maximum compactness. T series off-circuit tap changers have been designed to be used in applications in which a low value of partial discharges is required. T series off-circuit tap changers are single-phase or three-phase. T series off-circuit tap changers are fixed point or bridge type. The control devices provided by T series are the following: 1) handwheel control device with direct exit on the cover; ) handwheel control device with low side exit and cone clutch; ) handwheel control device with low transmission to men-height and cone clutch; ) handwheel control device with transmission to men-height.

1. GENERL INFORTION 1. CONSTRUCTION CHRCTERISTICS ND TERILS The materials used to manufacture Comem tap changers have been chosen to give the best performance and reliability. The insulating materials belong to class E in accordance with ISO 1, DIN, NF C, Nema LI 1 1 - BS standards. The fixed and mobile contact are made of special brass and copper alloys so as to grant the best thermal, mechanical and wear performance in accordance with IEC 01-1, IEC 01- standards. We took some measures to avoid the pyrolysis of the oil which causes problems on the electrical contacts of off-circuit tap changer. We used steel drive shaft, special gaskets and aluminium parts in order Comem tap changer can be used in tropical environments. 1. CHECK ND TESTS Comem S.p. provided for dimensional and working checks on all the parts and finished tap changers in order to grant the best reliability. ll T series tap changer have been manufactured in accordance with the following standards: IEC 01-1: Tap changers. Part 1: Performance requirements and test methods ; IEC 01-: Tap-changers - Part : pplication guide The following type of tests - available on demand - have been carried out: check of maximum oil overtemperature limits; check of short circuit current strength; check of strength at industrial frequency and impulse;; check of partial discharges. 1. SERVICES Comem S.p.. gives to its clients a complete technical and customer service, with the possibility to design and manufacture off-circuit tap changer on customer s specific demand. Comem S.p.. offers the chance to require the shielding rings for 100kV tap changers and purchase pin wrench DIN 110 (for properly fixing the wires to the diffuser caps) through an enquiry/order sheet (page ). Each tap changer of T series is supplied with a routine test report in accordance with IEC 01-1 standard and with an instruction manual to make a correct installation easier.

The manoeuvre is very smooth and precise, moreover the mark of the position can be easily seen. The tap changer moves one position for each turn of the handwheel and it has a mechanical stop which locks the control shaft after each complete revolution. Such a mechanical stop can be padlocked. This type of control has several options: transmission of the position to remote site; microswitches allowing HV and LV to close, acting when the tap changers is operated; signal lamp on the front of gearbox to indicate the manoeuvre currently underway and the manoeuvre terminated; start/end manoeuvre microswitches to which connect remote signal lights alarms.
