On the first level Danube Strategy will be presented the macro-regional strategy contributing to achieving the objectives of the EU 2020 under conditions and competencies of the Bratislava Self-governing Region. We will present the activities, priorities and projects of the Bratislava Region which help to support and develop innovation and education. On the second level a strategy for developing the region under conditions of the Danube Strategy will be presented of which aim is building the knowledge-based Bratislava Region. We will show participants proposal of the Strategy for economic and social development and Integrated development strategies of the cities areas, i.e. urban revitalization of declining areas in the Bratislava Region. We will also discuss the 3

preparation of the next EU programming period. We would like to present the examples of good practice in this area to foreign partners. The seminar will cover current topics discussed in Brussels and raise awareness regarding mentioned topics. International Conference of KNOWBRIDGE project "Utilization of RES - Opportunity for Cooperation" will be organised as meeting of experts from area of renewable energy sources that participate in KNOWBRIDGE Bridge of Knowledge, invited speakers and those that are potentially interested in renewable energy sources as well. Main thematic focus: 1) Support the development of renewable energy sources utilization in cross border regions of Košice Region and Northern Hungary. 2) Introduce programs of energy efficiency and RES utilization for potential beneficiaries and energy producers in target regions. 3) Introduce Joint Action Plan as organic part of cluster initiatives in RES. 5

Cities and Regions Efficiently Acting Together in Europe) "The spatial development of interregional co-operation in the danube space" 7-8 December 2011 Nitra Geography matters Type: 11 th workshop of the project Organisers: Nitra self-governing region Chair : Martin Čaja, Nitra self-governing region Speakers: Tibor Németh, Ministry of transport, construction and regional development, Slovakia, Július Hanus, Institute of spatial planing, Bratislava Description General objective of DONAUREGIONEN+ project is the description of the potential of the middle a lower part of the Danube and its importance for the Europe as important development corridor. The specific objective represents elaboration of the Joint Donauregionen Development Strategy (D+Strategy), having in mind the scenarions of the ESDP for this part of Europe. This requires common cooperation of planners of involved countries based on ARGE. The specific objective of the project will be achieved throught the combination of (1) bottom-up approach activities based on identification and evaluation of existing strategies (1a) of Danube NUTS3 regions, (1b) of existing euroregions and (1c) of bigger danube cities and ports and (2) the top-down approach activities connected with identification and evaluation of relevant spatial planning and regional policies, documents and systems of (2a) european and (2b) national importance. Project represents an attempt of integration of existing relevant european, national, regional and key local strategies in order to support Danube regions, towns and ports, which are in bad economic situation, but have the potential for sustainable development as centers or ports of the Danube. To achieve this the project will improve communication between the planners in Danube region, specifically in the sectors of Natural Conditions, Settlement Structures and Human Resources, Transport and Technical infrastructure and Economy throught the further development of Metainformation system, project Web site and Geographical information system developed in Interreg IIIB project Donauregionen.
