Ann. Math. Blaise Pascal, Vol. 5, N 1, 1998, pp.43-53 NEW CLASSES OF DISTORTION THEOREMS FOR CERTAIN SUBCLASSES OF ANALYTIC FUNCTIONS INVOLVING CERTAIN FRACTIONAL DERIVATIVES R.K. Raina and Mamta Bolia Abstract This paper gives new classes of distortion inequalities for various subclasses of the class ~ of analytic p-valent functions in the unit disk U. The results presented involve certain generalized fractional derivatives of functions belonging to the classes and Some special cases of the main results are also pointed out. 1. Introduction and Definitions. Let ~ denote the class of functions defined by (1.1) = zp - (~..~0 ; p e N = {1~}), M=i which are analytic and p-valent in the unit disk U=={z : jzj [!}. For a and b fixed, -1 ~ a b ~ 1, f(z) is said to be in the subclass K*p (a,b) of Kp if (1.2) J f(z) J Furthermore, we will denote by Sp(a,b) the set of meromorphic ~ functions f such AMS Subject Classification : 30 C 45, 26 A 33 Key Words : Distortion inequalities, analytic functions, p-valent functions, fractional derivatives

44 thatzf EK. p (a,b), see [5]. We denote by N, the set of non negative integers, R stands for the set of real numbers and R+ = (0,oo) and C is the set of complex numbers. The Gaussian hypergeometric function 2F1[z] is defined by (1.3) = = (a)n (b)n (c)n n! zn, (z E U, c ~ 0, -1, -2,...). Definition. The fractional derivative operator J~~~~~ is defined by [3] : C ) = dz rcl _a) o z (0 ~ 03B1 1 ; 03B2, ~ E R), where the function f(z) is analytic in a simply - connected region of the z-plane containing the origin, with the order (1.5) ~~) (z -~ 0), for (1.6) r > max (0,))-~}-1, and the multiplicity of (z-t)-" is removed by requiring that log (z-t) to be real when (z-t) E R+.

45 The operator joj,q includes (as its special cases) the Riemann-Liouville and Erdélyi-Kober operators of fractional calculus ([2], [4]). Indeed, we have (1.7) J y"flz> =0D03B1z f(z) o S 03B11), where 0D03B1z is defined by ( 1. 8) 0Daz f(z) = 1 0393(1-03B1)( d dz (z -t) -03B1 f(t) dt) (0~ 03B1 1). In the limiting case, when a-*i", we have ( 1. 9) hm 0D03B1z f(z) = f «-i- (z>. Also ( 1. 1 ) J03B1,1,~0,z z f(z) = d dz [z E1-03B1,~0,z f ], (0 s «1 ), where E03B1,~0,z f(z) denotes the Erdèlyi-Kober operator of fractional calculus and is defined by (1.11) E03B1,~0,z f(z) = z-03b1 0" t~ -~ 0393(03B1)z0(z-t)03B1-1 f(t) dt o r(«) (a > 0, q e R). The fractional calculus operators have found interesting applications in the

46 theory of analytic functions. This paper is devoted to obtaining new classes of distortion theorems for fractional derivatives of functions belonging to the subclasses K (a,b) and thereby giving its upper and lower bounds. 2. Distortion Theorems Before we state and prove our main results for functions belonging to subclasses K*(a,b) and s (a,b) we shall need the following results : Lemma I [ 1 ] The function f(z) defined by ( I. I ) belongs to the class K*p(a,b) if and only if (2. I) jj ((I + b)n + (b-a)p}ap + n=i n s (b-a)p. Lemma 2 [ 1 ]. The function f(z) defined by ( I. I ) belongs to the class if and only if (2.2) jj (~ ~ ~) ((l + b)n + s (b-a)p. n=i P Lemma 3. [6] Let 0 s X 1 ;,~ ~ R ; k > ( max then (2.3) J03BB,,~0,z zk = 0393(1 + k) 0393(1 - + ~ + k) 0393(1 - + k) 0393 (1-03BB + ~ + k) zk-.

. 47 Our first main result is contained in the following : Theorem 1 Let a function f(z) defined by (1.1) belong to the class gp(a,b). Then for p E N, 0 _ ~ 1; ~c _ p; 1] E R+ such that max (~., u) - p - 1 (1-2 + pl, B w l (2.4) I I and. [1-p(p+1 ) (1+p- +~) (b-a) [(1+b)+(b-a)p} (1- +p) (1-03BB+~+p) we have : z ] (2.5) J03BB,,~0,z f(z) ~ 0394 (03BB,,~,p) z p- [l [, ~b-a) + ((1+b)+(b-a)P~ (1-~+p) (1-~+~1+P) (z )), for z E U, where, for convenience, (2.6) A 0 (;L,u,~) r ~1+P) r (1-4~+~1 + P) =. (~.,w~~l~p) - r r u-~+~1+p) 7he equalities are attained by the function (2.7) f(z) = zp - ( ( I + (b-a)p -a)p ) zp+1. Proof. We begin by considering the function

48 (2.8), 0394(03BB,,~,p) where is given by (2.6). Then F(z) = zp - 03A3 ~ (1 + p)n (1 + ~ - +p)n03b1p+n zp+n, I (i-~~(i-~.+n~ ~ " (2.9) =~- i n l where (2.10) ~) = ~~~ ~~~ ~, (1-~ + ~ + P)n and (a)n = a(a+l)...(a+n-l) = r(a+n) / 0393(a) denotes the factorial function. We observe the following: The function 03C6(n) defined by (2.10) satisfies the inequality 03C6(n), V n ~ N, provided that ~ ~ {1-(n+p+1) } 03BB, thereby showing that 03C6(n) is non-increasing. Thus, under the conditions stated in the hypothesis, we have

49 (2.11) 0~03C6(n)~03C6(1)=(1+p)(1- +~+p) {(1+b)+(b-a)p}, v n~1. (1-4~+P)W~+~l +P) Also, from Lemma 1, we have (2.12) _ p+n {(1+b)+(b-a)p} Hence (2.9), (2.11) and ( 2.12) yield IFcZII Z - zp 03C6(1) z p+1 03A3 ap+n n=1 ~ z p _ 03C6(1) z p+1, where ~(1) is given by (2.11). This readily gives the assertion (2.4) of Theorem 1. The assertion (2.5) can be proved similarly. It can be easily verified that equalities in (2.4) and (2.5) are attained by the function f(z) defined by (2.7). By applying Lemma 2 (instead of Lemma 1) to the function f(z) belonging class Sp(a,b), we can prove the following : to the Theorem 2. Let a function f(z) defined by (1.1) belong to the class. Then for pen, 0 ~ A 1; ~. _ P; 11 E R+ such that max ~ ~ (1-2+p ) we have : 03BB,

50 (2.13) a,~,f(z) and ~. 1- P2 (b-a) C1-w+~+P) Cl+P--~) Cl-~+~+P)~C~+b) + (2.14) J03BB,,~0,zf(z) ~ 0394(03BB,,~,p) z p-. 1 P2 (b-a) (1-~+~i +P) ~Z ~ I], ~ (1~-ti) C1W+ ~+P)~(1+b) + where A (X, ~c, r~, p) is given by (2.6), and z E U. The equalities are attained by the function (2.15) f(z)=zp - p2(b-a) (p+1){(1+b)+(b-a)p}zp+1. 3. Deductions of Theorems 1 and 2 By noting the relations (1.7) and (1.10), we point out below the deductions of Theorems 1 and 2, which give the corresponding distortion inequalities involving the operators 0D03B1z (the familiar Riemann - Liouville operator), and the operator (the Erdelyi - Kober operator). Thus, in the special case when X = a, then in view of (1.7), Theorems 1 and 2 would yield, respectively, the Corollaries 1 and 2 given below:

51 Corollary 1. Let a function f(z) defined by (1.1) belong to the class K*p(a,b), then ( under conditions easily obtainable from Theorem 1): (3.1) z p-03b1 (j_ (p+1) ~ ~ and (3.2) ( S 0393(1+p) ) z ) ), 0393(1-03B1+p) IZI z I]. Corollary 2. Let a function f(z) defined by (1.1) belong to the class Sp(a, b), then (under conditions easily obtainable from Theorem 1) : (3.3) 0D03B1zf(z) ~0393(1+p) 0393(1-03B1+p) z p-03b1 [1-p2(b-a) (1-03B1+p){(1+b)+(b-a)p} z ], and (3.4) 0D03B1zf(z) ~0393(1 +p) 0393(1-03B1+p) z p-03b1 [1 + p2(b-a) (1-03B1+p)[(1+b)+(b-a)p] z ]. Similarly, distortion inequalities involving the operator (1.10) Theorems 1 and 2, and we do not record it here. can be deduced from It may be observed that in the limiting case when a -~ 1~, the results (3.1) and (3.2) of Corollary 1 give the bounds for the function f (z), which correspond to the results obtained in [1] (see also [5]).
