GHAZANFAR ABBAS Research Interest and Objectives New generation is searching out an alternative energy source due to rapidly depletion of fossil fuels. Fuel Cell is considered one of the best alternative energy sources, which converts chemical energy (hydrogen) into electricity, heat and power. Fuel cell is an environmental friendly and pollution free device. I am highly interested to promote fuel cell technology particularly solid oxide fuel cell. Its high working temperature of 800-1000 o C is a barrier to promote it on commercialization scale. This challenge can be achieved to make its electrodes at low cost by changing materials or by altering the preparation techniques. My research is focused on sub-field of Renewable Energy Resources called Fuel Cell Technology. I have designed and fabricate new Zn based low cost nano-structured electrodes for solid oxide fuel cells, which work at comparatively low temperature in the range of 400-600 o C. The research in Fuel Cell Technology is a precursor for the solution of energy crises while the maturity of Fuel Cell Technology is a revolution for the solution of energy crises Recently, our country Pakistan is facing a lot of energy problems, and has a wide technological gap in energy issues, this research work will support to fill these gaps of energy and power issues. Current Status Assistant Professor, TTS (HEC Approved Supervisor) Department of Physics, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad. Title of Dissertations Ph.D. Thesis: Fabrication and Characterization of Low Cost Electrodes for Fuel Cells (Bahauddin Zakariya University BZU Mulatn and Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, Stockholm, Sweden) M.
