I. Egypt and Census The first documented census was in 1882 Census 2017 is the (14 th )

New approaches in Census 2017 Census Mapping ( digital Maps Scale 1:500)

New approaches in Census 2017 Census Mapping ( digital Maps Scale 1:500) Covers 100 % of Egyptian Land Urban Rural Census 2006 70 % 0 % Census 2017 100 % 100 %

Role of Census Mapping 2-During Enumeration Stage 1.Pre-Enumeration Stage 3- Results Dissemination Stage

Census Mapping The main advantages of using census mapping are: Ensuring Maps consistency and facilitating census operations (pre-enumeration phase). Figure out the labour force required during census (pre-enumeration phase). Supporting data collection stage in order to eliminate overlapping or omission of enumeration areas and also can help to monitor census activities (during enumeration). Maps make it easier to present, analysis and disseminate census result (post-enumeration) by using spatial analysis techniques for producing statistical thematic maps.

1- Preparations (Pre-Enumeration): i. Updating the administrative boundaries. ii. Updating the base maps using new satellite images. iii. Updating the base maps using field survey.

III. National Spatial ID Egypt is working on establishing a NSDI Obstacles : Unified Base-map Geocoding system Administrative Boundaries

III. National Spatial ID Is a unique number for each unit within the building. Is produced automatically from digital maps. Giving a fixed number for the unit linked to its geographical location which does not change with the administrative boundaries change. To organize, evaluate and follow-up of local government services such as electricity, natural gas, sewage
