Eclipse Extravaganza FAQs Roper Mountain Science Center looks forward to hosting the 07 Eclipse Extravaganza on August st. We are excited for your visit and want to ensure you are prepared for the event. Please read this message in its entirety as it includes important information. Arrival, Tickets and Parking: Please note that we have now changed the entry time for our August st event. Entry gates will now open at 9:00 a.m. and close at :00 noon. To expedite your entry, please have your tickets pre-printed. Tickets will be scanned at the gate. We are SOLD OUT for our August st event and only those with tickets will be allowed entrance; no tickets will be sold the day of the event. A complimentary pair of Solar Eclipse glasses for safe viewing will be distributed at the gate to each ticket holder. You are responsible for the viewing safety of yourself and your children. Roper Mountain does not recommend the use of any solar glasses other than those provided upon entry to the center. Once the parking lot reaches its maximum capacity, cars will be directed to additional off-site parking. From there, a Proterra shuttle bus will transport ticket holders back to Roper Mountain Science Center. Carpooling is highly recommended. Gates will close for admittance at :00 noon. All ticket holders must arrive before this time. Please plan ahead with travel times as traffic is projected to be extremely heavy. There will be no re-admittance if you choose to leave the property. There will be first come, first served handicap parking. Valid permit required. See attached maps for viewing areas, parking and handicap parking. Event information: Planetarium tickets must be obtained, on a first come, first served basis at the ticket station outside the Planetarium on the day of the event. There will be an on-site shuttle bus running three stops from 9:00am to :0pm and :00pm to :00pm only. In preparation for totality, no shuttle will run between :0pm-:00pm. Astronomers at the designated viewing areas will provide eclipse play by play over PA systems beginning at :00pm. Indoor lab activities will be temporarily suspended between :0pm to :00pm to allow for eclipse viewing. A detailed flier with activities will be posted on www.ropermountain.org, sent via e-mail the week before the eclipse, and distributed at entry on Monday. Allowed/Not Allowed: Coolers, small umbrellas, and chairs are allowed in designated areas only (refer to attached maps). If leaving these items unattended, please be aware that Roper Mountain Science Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Telescopes will not be allowed and, as always, pets, alcohol, and tobacco products are not permitted on the property. Outside food is permitted, but we will also have food vendors available. Please be aware that Roper Mountain Science Center does not have an ATM. Please feel free to contact us with any questions at 86--8906. Handicapped Handicapped Parking Shuttle Stop Harrison Hall of Natural Science Will handicapped parking be available? Handicapped parking is available on a first-come, first serve basis. Tag required. It is located in the Harrison Hall lot. Will there be a seated viewing area for those who may be unable to remain standing for a long period of time or require special accommodations? A section of the eclipse viewing area will be set aside for handicapped, special needs and health sensitive guests. There will be some seating in this space for guests who require it. Personal chairs permitted. 6
