Preparation Work. Clear area around and at the rear of the machine.. Open door.. Disconnect electrical power to machine.. Turn OFF hot and cold water inlet supply and remove hoses from machine.. Remove door lock cover and L-catch. 7. Remove nuts and lockwashers from door lock plate and remove door lock from shell front. 8. Disconnect door lock assembly. 9. Mark location, with permanent marker, of the shell front with relation to shell. This will be the position location for reassembly of the shell front and to ensure the door is level. 0. Removing Trunnion Assembly. Remove belt from motor and basket pulleys. Refer to Figure. 6 6. Remove key. 7. Using Basket Puller Tool, remove basket. 8. Remove 6 screws attaching trunnion to frame. 9. Insert screws (removed in Step 8) into the trunnion removal holes and torque evenly in a cross pattern to force trunnion from frame. Remove trunnion assembly from frame. 0. Remove burrs from shaft with fine emery cloth (00-600 grit). When completed, clean shaft with a clean rag dipped in solvent and apply a film of WD-0.. Scrape off old sealant from shell back. Clean shell back with soap and water, if needed. Wipe area with denatured alcohol. Allow area to dry. Installing Trunnion Assembly. Inspect shaft and seal sleeve for excessive wear. Replace if necessary.. Apply F00 RTV Sealant to back of shell where trunnion will be installed. Amount should be sufficient to seal trunnion without causing excess sealant to contaminate main seals. Remove basket pulley from shaft using F60 Basket Pulley Puller Tool and F609 Basket Puller Tool. a. Place F60 Basket Pulley Puller Tool behind pulley. b. Attach arms of F609 Basket Puller Tool to inside of F60 Basket Pulley Puller Tool and align center screw. c. Tighten center screw, pulling pulley off basket shaft. d. Mount F60 Basket Pulley Puller Tool arms against inside of frame and align center screw. e. Tighten center screw, pushing basket forward. . Apply F880 Retaining Compound to part of trunnion that will fit inside frame-bearing plate hole. Refer to Figure. 7 6. Apply a /8 inch bead of F707 M DP-60 Epoxy to each screw around the entire screw shank / inch above screw head. Refer to Figure 6 7. From inside shell, insert screws into shell back and into frame bearing plate. Epoxy should expand /6 inch to /8 inch from screw head when it is pressed flush against the shell back. Mount trunnion onto frame over screws inserted in Step. Insert 6 new flat washers (supplied with kit) onto screws. Apply Loctite 60 (green) to 6 new fiber locknuts (supplied with kit) and torque them alternately (criss-cross pattern) and in even increments onto screws. Torque *C8- machines to 7 Ft-Lb. Torque *C7-60 machines to 0 Ft-Lb. Page 6 of 8 (-06-6R)
Installing Basket NOTE: Steps 0 - must be completed within minutes of applying retaining compound due to cure time. 0. Apply grease liberally to basket seal collar and apply /8 inch bead F880 Retaining Compound to front bearing journal near the leading edge and to rear bearing journal. Refer to Figure 7. 7. Reinstall shell band with F70 Shell Band Seal and hardware, supplied with kit, in the o clock position, or the location marked in Step 0. 8. Check basket front to shell front centering alignment at the o clock, 6 o clock, 9 o clock, and o clock positions. Basket centering should be evenly spaced and should not vary by more than /8 inch. Attach Basket Insertion Adapter Tool (96P, 97P, or 98P) and 0P Basket Insertion Guide Rod Tool to shaft and insert basket into shell. Guide basket insertion tools and shaft through trunnion assembly. Basket Front Shell Front Figure 8 CHM0K If the alignment is off at the o clock position, remove or shell mounting washers from each side. Refer to Figure 9. If the alignment is off at the 6 o clock position, add or shell mounting washers to each side. Refer to Figure 9. If the alignment is off at the o clock or 9 o clock positions, adjust the shell to the right or left as needed. Refer to Figure 9. IMPORTANT: Avoid contact with seal lips.. Remove basket insertion tools.. Reinstall basket pulley and belt in the reverse order of removal. NOTE: It may be necessary to use Basket Puller Tool (F79800, F79800, or F79800) to pull in the basket fully.. Align pulley and check belt tension. Refer to Operation/Maintenance manual for belt tension and alignment specifications.. Install F0000600 Shell Band Gasket around shell seat. Add RTV sealant as needed to fill uneven spaces. 6. 9. Using measurement recorded earlier, set shell to basket gap. Gap should be between /6 inch ( mm) to /8 inch (9. mm). Refer to Figure 0. /6 in. to /8 in. Reassembling Machine 0. Apply RTV sealant around shell front screw holes used to attach door lock assembly.. Reinstall door lock assembly and L-catch.. Reinstall door lock cover.. Reinstall front and back panels.. Restore power to machine and reconnect water lines.. Run machine through test cycle. NOTE: Excessive play, looseness or noise may indicate improper parts or assembly. 6. Check to verify water is not leaking at trunnion bolt locations or shell band seal. 7. Verify door lock operates properly. Refer to Operation/Maintenance manual for instructions on testing door lock.
