November, 0 Pierce County Parks and Recreation Services epartment Lakewood rive SW Lakewood, WA Attn: Jessica Stone, Natural Lands Steward Transmitted via email to: jstone@co.pierce.wa.us Re: 0 Groundwater Monitoring Results Lake Tapps County Park Underground Storage Tank Site Sumner, Washington Project No. 000.00.0 ear Jessica: Landau Associates, Inc. (LAI) completed groundwater monitoring activities at the Lake Tapps County Park Underground Storage Tanks (UST) site (site) on September, 0. The site is located at th Avenue East in Sumner, Washington and is shown on Figure. Three monitoring wells were installed in association with a petroleum hydrocarbon release from two historical USTs. The tanks were installed for a small fuel dispensing station to service recreational watercraft. The USTs were decommissioned in ; the three monitoring wells were subsequently installed in. Three monitoring wells (MW-, MW-, and MW-) were sampled for gasoline-range organics (GRO) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). The locations of the monitoring wells are shown on Figure. Samples were collected from the top of the screened interval, to be consistent with historical sampling techniques. Most recent groundwater monitoring results, as well as September 0 results are presented in Table. The most recent laboratory data package is included as Attachment. These data are considered final and have undergone quality assurance review. Results were compared to Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Method A cleanup levels (CULs) for unrestricted land use on Table. uring the September 0 monitoring event, concentrations of GRO and BTEX were not detected above laboratory reporting limits at either MW- or MW-. However, GRO was detected above the CUL at MW- ( milligrams per liter [mg/l]) as well as benzene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes ( micrograms per liter [µg/l], 00 µg/l, and µg/l, respectively). Analytical results for all three groundwater wells are consistent with 0 results. Groundwater sampling is scheduled to be conducted again in summer 0. * * * * * * * South C Street Tacoma, Washington 0 () - www.landauinc.com
