Guest Lecture Time: Jun. 11 nd 2016 Place: Huazhong Univ. of Science & Technology (HUST) Wuhan National Lab for Optoelectronics (WNLO) Speaker: Michael Grätzel Topic: Energy beyond oil Professor Michael Grätzel describes the global crisis of global warming and environmental pollution due to the depletion of fossil fuel resources, especially the feasibility of how to address future renewable energy needs. Mainly discusses the photoelectric conversion mechanism of high efficiency and low cost of solar cells based on dye or perovskite, and the major research achievements of the research group in recent years, He also talked about the future application of perovskite solar cells. Professor Michael Grätzel's report is clear and open, giving us a systematic introduction to the development process from dye-sensitized solar cells to perovskite solar cells. It is easy to understand and offers a new perspective for the development of new energy.

Guest Lecture Time: Mar. 8rd 2015 Place: Huazhong Univ. of Science & Technology (HUST) Wuhan National Lab for Optoelectronics (WNLO) Speaker: Xiong Li Topic: Research Progress of Perovskite Solar Cells - Morphology Control, Stability and Industrialization In the report, Dr. Xiong Li mainly introduced his research work and achievements since 2013 at the Michael Grätzel group of the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland. Through the chemical modification of the perovskite surface, the crystallization process and morphology control of perovskite are regulated, and the photoelectric conversion efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells are improved. Improved the large area (> 1cm 2 ) perovskite solar cells from the current 15.6% to the highest international efficiency 19.6% (at that time), and pass the solar cell stability test, making the field of perovskite solar cell in the direction of industrialization and a step further. Dr. Xiong Li's report concise and clear, clearly introduced the current development trend and prospects of perovskite solar cells, pointed out that the battery problems and solutions.

SPIE conference Two group members of the club Xiaomeng Hou and Si Si went to the SPIE Optics + Photonics 2016 Meeting held In San Diego, California.

Following Activities Invite 3-5 experts in the fields of optics, photonics, nanotechnology, laser processing, sensing, imaging and so on, to give lectures; Organize some of members to attend the International Photonics and Opto-Electronics Meetings (POEM 2017); Support 1-2 student members to attend SPIE conferences in 2017, such as Optics + Photonics 2017, and so on; Organize more sports activities such as basketball games, badminton games. Actually, we are planning to invite students who studies PE major to offer some professional training; Cooperate with WNLO, hold regular seminars every month; Establish a complete officer system and expand our chapter.

Financial Information All the activities were supported by SPIE, WNLO and HUST. 1) Provided snacks and drinks for the lectures. (100 dollars/lecture, 2 lectures, totally 200 dollars) 2) Club members visited Wonder Solar Limited Liability Company at No. 9 Fenghuang Road, Ezhou, Hubei, China. (Distance: 45 KM, Transportation and beverage, 350 dollars) 3) Undergraduate students visited WNLO labs and discussed future plans. (Snacks and beverage, 150 dollars.) 4) Posters for SPIE Optics + Photonics 2016 (20 dollars), and lectures (20 dollars). 5) Prepared 100 sets of giveaways for the lectures, tours, workshops, etc (3 dollars each, total: 300 dollars). 2016 Club Activity Grant: 1100 dollars Totally used: 1040 dollars Balance: 60 dollars
