Ready for INSPIRE Consultancy SOFTWARE T r a i n i n g Solutions... connecting worlds European SDI Service Center

Increasing Added Value with INSPIRE and SDI Components INSPIRE In 2007, the European Commission issued directive 2007/2/EC, which deals with the establishment of an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe, or INSPIRE, for short. Its purpose is to create a uniform spatial database for Europe, that can be accessed via geoservices. To this end, member states are obligated to provide, in stages, interoperable, environmentally relevant spatial data, along with the attendant metainformation. The aim is to simplify the cross-border utilisation of spatial data in Europe and to create a basis for political decision making in Europe. T r a i n i n g Consultancy Solutions SOFTWARE INSPIRE has gone on to develop over and beyond its original purpose into an integral component of e-government, with the positive effect that administrative processes are becoming simpler, more efficient and closer to the public. Above all, INSPIRE supports the minimisation of transactional costs associated with the provision, refinement and use of spatial data, which will lead to a considerably more intensive use of spatial information, the volume of which has grown extremely rapidly in recent years. con terra has played a central role in developing INSPIRE, and it is one of Europe s leading suppliers of INSPIREspecific technologies and services. The company sees itself as a European SDI Service Centre and pursues the philosophy that legal obligation should not be viewed in isolation, but that INSPIRE and SDI components should be integrated beneficially within value chains, thus maximising their added value. Consultancy customer-oriented, competent and holistic Government bodies to which INSPIRE is addressed are faced with the challenge of identifying and implementing obligatory INSPIRE requirements. To this end, con terra has developed a special consultancy package to support customers in this process. INSPIRE Quick Check & Implementation Recommendations Determination of customer-specific INSPIRE requirements and identification of areas in which action is needed, based on a gap analysis, Outline technical concept of the necessary INSPIRE components taking into account IT, organisational and business framework conditions. Technology and Architecture Consultancy Customer-specific solution design in an INSPIRE or SDI environment (e.g. securing geoservices, setting up e-commerce solutions, and transforming data). Strategic Consultancy Support in the area of strategic decision making processes, e.g. in the development of SDI roadmaps, project design or setting up coordination and organisational units.

Software high performance, scalable and INSPIRE-compliant con terra supplies comprehensive, highly scalable and future-proof tools for use in the field of SDI and INSPIRE. FME, ArcGIS and sdi.suite technologies support the user in: Transforming existing spatial datasets into given INSPIRE data structures, Publishing homogenised spatial data via INSPIRE services, Securing quality requirements for services, Implementing access-protection and e-commerce requirements. logic and functions to FME technology, which supports and considerably simplifies the mapping process. Template workbenches for the available annex themes, including an INSPIRE tutorial with practical referencemapping, Direct access to the INSPIRE specification as well as annex descriptions from within the FME Workbench, More than 100 additional INSPIRE transformers supporting schema mapping and INSPIRE-specific functions, Addition of INSPIRE-specific detailed information to the FME Workbench help file, Optimised for filling the ArcGIS for INSPIRE geodatabase. INSPIRE Solution Pack for FME In many cases, fulfilling the INSPIRE guideline necessitates performing data transformations and schema mapping from existing datasets or databases into INSPIRE data models. Now, con terra has developed the INSPIRE Solution Pack for FME, to simplify the generally complex process of schema mapping. This adds INSPIRE-specific ArcGIS for INSPIRE ArcGIS for INSPIRE covers the core INSPIRE requirements, by adding INSPIRE view services, download services, discovery services and INSPIRE data models to the ArcGIS base technology. ArcGIS for INSPIRE supports the rapid Technologies that support an optimum workflow INSPIRE Solution Pack for FME ArcGIS for INSPIRE sdi.suite Geoportal ETL European SDI Internal Information-/ Data Management Systems INSPIRE Data Model & Services User INSPIRE Solution Pack for FME processes existing data into ArcGIS for INSPIRE data models ArcGIS for INSPIRE is the central component with which data is published sdi.suite offers additional functions for special tasks

Solutions individual, integrated and process-oriented and timely construction of INSPIRE-compliant services, without having to abandon established workflows. Creation and maintenance of INSPIRE-compliant spatial data and metadata in ArcGIS Desktop using INSPIRE geodatabase templates and an INSPIRE metadata editor, Publication of INSPIRE-compliant view and download services using INSPIRE Service Extension for ArcGIS Server, Support for the process of providing existing data through INSPIRE geodatabase templates (e.g. INSPIRE Solution Pack for FME), Cataloguing, indexing and publishing INSPIREcompliant metadata using the open source-licensed Esri Geoportal Server and its INSPIRE-compliant discovery services. INSPIRE places new challenges on public administrations. The additional data preparation and data release requirements often necessitate new, modified technologies. The best solution is oriented towards the obligations that have to be fulfilled in accordance with INSPIRE, the structure of the organisation, established workflows, responsibilities, system environment and other aspects which need to be taken into consideration when an efficient spatial data management system is created. Individual requirements necessitate individual solutions: these can range from the addition of matched components to existing systems to a comprehensive, all-round solution. This is exactly where con terra provides its support, based on its many years of experience in the realisation of customer-specific solutions in Europe. sdi.suite Beyond the publication of homogenised spatial data and metadata, INSPIRE also regulates further aspects of the establishment of a European SDI, for example, in the fields of data exchange, access control, licensing, monitoring and reporting. The practice-proven sdi.suite components comprise fitting solutions which are optimised for interacting with ArcGIS for INSPIRE. securitymanager: offers user management and single sign-on functions as well as security of INSPIRE data, services, resources and extended logging, licensemanager: for licensing and e-commerce with INSPIRE data, services and applications (supports the INSPIRE Basic License and Specific License) including invoicing functions, servicemonitor: monitors service quality in accordance with the specifications of INSPIRE network services, and extensive use logging to support INSPIRE reporting. Training systematic, qualified and practical For con terra, training success means systematically putting learned material into practice. The range of training opportunities offered covers both the teaching of fundamental SDI and INSPIRE knowledge and specific product-related and thematic training units. Our qualified and certified trainers possess many years of project experience in the field of designing and building spatial data infrastructures. Course material is regularly modified and optimised in close cooperation with participants and con terra s SDI experts, for example, from the INSPIRE drafting teams. In addition to standard training conducted at seven sites throughout Germany, as well as online training, con terra offers, the chance to benefit from individually configured training, even on-site, if so desired.

Ready for INSPIRE Future-proof product range con terra has had a considerable impact on the developments with INSPIRE in recent years and is one of the leading solution providers in Europe in the field of SDI & INSPIRE. In its alliance with Esri Germany and as a close cooperation partner of Safe Software, con terra has direct access to the world s leading technology providers in the fields of GIS and Spatial ETL. For con terra, Ready for INSPIRE is a complete, futureproof product and service package, which minimises the expense of implementing INSPIRE. As a European SDI Service Center, con terra supports throughout all phases of the INSPIRE implementation process. Special focus is placed on the beneficial integration of INSPIRE components in customers value chains.
