Within the UK, many initiatives have been set up to help maintain biodiversity. One is the Dartmoor Biodiversity Project, part of which is the Habitat Action Plan for moorland, which covers almost 50% of the National Park. This Action Plan specifies many objectives, all of which aim to maintain the range of habitats on Dartmoor and ensure that all native plants and animals continue to breed successfully and maintain healthy populations.
