REPORT SUBMITTED BI VOLUNTEERS ON THE TRIPS TO ZEERUST, GROOT MARICO, HCJSTENBUBG, DOORN- FONTEIN ON 24TH OCTOBER,1954. ZEERUST. GROOT MARICft. RUSTENBURG. When we rwached Zeerust, we could not find the contact whom we were supposed to see. We made contacts with two other persons whi in future will do all the work. Left bulletins which will be distributed house to house. Contacted an Indian who is also prepared to do Congress of the People work. Could find no contacts; had to make own contacts. We contacted a certain Reverent who called up a meeting of the people of Groot Marico, in his Church. Approximately 50 people were present pledged full support to Congress of the People and also promised to do all necessary work and preparation for the Congress of the People. Given contact lives approximately 66 miles from Rustenburg. Again made own contacts who promised to help organise for the Congress of the People on the house to house basis. We suggest that in future you make sure that contacts live in the given areas before you send people out to organise them. REPORT MADE BY B. ON C.O.P. ORGANISATION. Contacts made: LICHTENBURG. Andrew Bodile, Box 6, Lichtenburg Location. Mr Moloke, Member, Advisory Board, Lichtenburg Location. Mr E.Abed (Indian) P.O.Box 2, Lichtenburg. VENTERSDORP. B.Divake, 24 Kerk Street, W.Selebago, 315 Kerk Street, Ventersdorp Location. OH libera + DOORNFONTEIN. There were nine Indian Volunteers for this area. The response of the people was very favourable. However, had there been some Coloured Volunteers, it would have helped a greatdeal. No volunteers were recruited because, no tom s were taken as group was instructed instructed only to distribute the call, and otherbulletins and to explain the Congress of the people to the masses. A weakness of the group was the late arrival of the volunteers for duty, with the result that a few scattered houses were not covered. Another weakness was the difficulty of the volunteers to explain to the people the Congress, whan it came to the diffirent dialect. Had the Call been translated in Gujarati, better results wopld have been obtained, because the majority of the people in the area are Gujarati speaking. Congress of the People committees have been formed in Evaton and Fordsburg. ooo
