Policies It is the student's responsibility to attend all classes, be prepared to start on time, continue on task until it is completed, and to work on something else should you complete the task in the class time; keep a well-organized notebook. It is the student's responsibility to find and contact a classmate when absent (they should collect all handouts and assignments for you). If you are absent for any reason during the term you are expected to make up the work. Assignments are handed in the day you return, or for assignments you did not receive, they are handed in the day after you return. If a student knows in advance that he or she is going to be absent, especially when a test or lab is scheduled, or an assignment is due, the student will notify the Instructor and alternate arrangements will be made prior to the test or assignment. IMPORTANT: ***When a student is absent on the day that a test is scheduled, the student is responsible for having a parent to phone their teacher advisor and the Instructor explaining their absence. Failure to have an absence verified prior to the exam may result in a mark of zero. Note: It is NOT good enough to phone the next day.*** Late assignment policy: up to 50% off per day (0 is assigned for anything already marked) If a student is having problems completing a particular assignment or lab on time, he or she should make special arrangements with the teacher before the due date. Assignments will not always be required to be submitted, however, it is in your best interest to complete the work. I will randomly call for submission of work. Evaluation Within the term: 70% Quizzes, Exams, Assig. Final Exam: 30% Total Mark: 100% Absences. Students who are absent should seek notes and assigned work from classmates and attend science tutorial room for help. Extended holidays during scheduled classes disrupt learning and are strongly discouraged.
