Using Unit Multipliers to Convert Measures Converting Mixed-Unit to Single-Unit Measures Reteaching 52 Math Course 3, Lesson 52 To convert a measure from one unit to another unit, you can use unit multipliers. A unit multiplier is a ratio in which the numerator and denominator are equivalent measures but different units. Solving Percent Problems with Equations Reteaching 58 Math Course 3, Lesson 58 A percent of a whole is a part. To solve a percent problem, use this formula: % W = P The three numbers in the equation are the percent, the whole, and the part. You can solve an equation if you know two of the three numbers. Covert the percent to a decimal or a fraction before performing the calculation. Example: Twelve percent of 250 is what number? Experimental probability is the ratio of the number of times an event occurs to the number of trials. Experimental probability = number of times an event occurs number of trials Example: Diane rolled a number cube 100 times. She got a three 20 times.
