VENUS INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF E&C ENGINEERING A REPORT ON INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT BISAG, GANDHINAGAR

PROFILE: BISAG provides specialized services and solutions in implementing mapbased GeoSpatial Information Systems. BISAG undertakes all services for the entire process of implementing an enterprise level GIS system. These services include GIS database design and development, map creation/updation and finishing, data migration/conversion and format translation, software development and customisation, systems integration and technical consulting.bisag also provides complete GIS solutions, which bundle hardware, and software with GIS systems development services. BISAG has strengthened its range of high-end GeoSpatial services in largescale mapping by using advanced Photogrammetry and D-GPS technologies to cover elevation modelling, surface modelling and true ortho-photo generation. BISAG offers comprehensive GIS/PHOTOGRAMMETRIC solutions over large geographical areas. These include solutions and services in the areas of mapping, cartography, imaging, photogrammetry and utility / environment resource management. BISAG provides solutions based on Remote Sensing, using Multi-spectral data, for specific applications like agricultural crop monitoring, watershed management, forest fire mapping etc. BISAG also offers leading-edge Mapping - GIS solutions for disaster management and specialized needs of Public Safety agencies like police, fire and ambulance services. Additionally, a full complement of e-governance solutions is also offered, to address varying GIS and MIS needs of governments and municipal corporations.

Details of Visit: Date: 10/08/2015 Place: Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics Address: Near CH '0' Circle, Indulal Yagnik Marg, Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad Highway, Gandhinagar-382 007 Gujarat, India. Time: 10:30 AM to 02:00 PM Faculty Coordinators: Visitors: Asst. Prof. Shailee Patel Asst. Prof. Mihir Patel Students of 5th and 7th Semester of EC Branch Objective of BISAG The main objectives as per the Memorandum of Association are: To establish and to carry on the administration and management of the Bhaskracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics, BISAG Gandhinagar, so that the various planning & development activities pertaining to Agriculture, Soil and Land use, Urban Land use, Water Resources, Watershed, Marine applications, Forest and Environment, Geology as well as training of grassroot level functionaries through satellite communication etc. can be carried out effectively and economically. With a view to achieve the stated objectives of the society, the activities of the Institute shall be to act as a nodal agency to help in the planning process related to

natural resources and environment and to prepare baseline inventory of resources on a spatial format at different levels of details and hierarchy (scale, Administrative / physical units). Its main objectives are: To setup a State Natural Resource Management System (SNRMS). To develop approaches for integrated resources data management. To promote the use of SA TCOM networks for distant interactive training and education in the State. To provide services/consultancy based on specific user needs in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS. To provide wider usage of geo-spatial applications through simultaneous support systems / software to concurrent users.

Work Profile: The Institute is also providing on the job training for project work to the students studying in final year in various disciplines viz. B.E. (CE/IT), MCA, Ph.D etc. The Institute organizes workshops/training on Applications of remote sensing and GIS for various State departments viz. SPIPA/R&B Department, academic institutions etc. BISAG is establishing a Institute for Excellence, Academy of Spatial Technology, which shall cater various needs of the students community in the areas of education/technology development etc. The Institute is also actively participating in exhibitions/seminars which are organized by national/international agencies, where the RS and GIS based applications are discussed and their relevance and importance are publicized for utilization and education. Expert lectures of BISAG's Scientist are being organized in various academic institutions like NIRMA, DDIT, GJTI and CEPT.

Abstract of overall knowledge that the students gained from the visit: Visiting the organization which brings out maps for the villages in the Gujarat and gives analysis at first we entered the campus all set our goal to learn new things starting from GUJSAT where in the recordings and telecast of necessary things are carried out on larger extend from single large studio technically speaking the setup was nice it had perfect lay out for large and small conference, knowing that the wall were specially customized so that it can have good sound effects also equipped with specialized cameras including technology of lights which was daunting had no heating effect as normal halogen lights receiving fruitful information from the expert who was showing around they took us to the back end of the studio where in the audio and video were received from frond end separately and later on combined using encoder at the earth station which they had on their campus, different techniques following switches which can put into 16 cameras at the time and lot more which was amazing to watch, Followed by query session we came across various facts which very interesting for example BISAG conducts all the 16 channels which are free to air channels connected by GSWAN(Gujarat state wide area network) connecting villages and taluka for conferencing live, As we moved out we were enjoying the flow of new things more importantly headed our way in another building which conducted the work on geo- informatics on the 3 rd floor all colleges were made to sit starting from the presentation of satellite launch vehicle from PSLV(polar satellite launch vehicle) and vision of this organization named after a great person in Indian History

Bhaskaracharya its great work and followed by another documentary on the various works carried out by organization, Industry, roadway survey, town planning plans etc. where carried out by organization as its not only associated with government but also such organization, ended with latest satellites send by ISRO of countries like Japan, Singapore and India, Was informative session, Last but not the least we came into academic session which was important BIASAG takes 1000 students for training program which consists of first come first serve procedure in the last year s of one s academic year one can go and pick up the project from BIASAG as they provide experts on this subjects from their side, It combines soft - wares and geo informatics expanding in this very field makes work easy for infrastructure and growth of country, Surprisingly even the tata nano project was setup in sanand after taking advice from experts in BISAG.
