Multiparty -imensional quantum information splitting Anrze Gruka* an Antoni Wócik** Faculty of Physics, Aam Mickiewicz University, arxiv:quant-ph/5 7 May 8PXOWRZVND3R]QD3RODQG Abstract Generalization of quantum information splitting protocol from qubits to quits (quantum - imensional systems) is presente. PACS number(s): 3.67.-a, 89.7.+c Recently Karlsson an Bourennane [] an Hillery, Buzek an Berthiaume [] have presente a scheme for quantum information splitting, which allows encoing of a state of a given particle (qubit) into N -particle state in such a way that all N particles are necessary for perfect reconstruction of the original state. In their scheme it is the phase information which is absent in the state of any single particle, an moreover, in the state of any subset of M particles except M N. On the other, in the last few years there has been growing interest in generalization of quantum information protocols from two-imensional systems (qubits) to
-imensional systems (quits). For example generalization of teleportation was presente in [3, 4, 5, 6], of quantum state purification in [7], of quantum cloning in [8]. Generalization of quantum key istribution protocols was propose in [9, ] an it was proven that the security of quantum cryptography increases with the imension of the system use [, ]. It is the aim of our paper to present the -imensional generalization of the quantum secret sharing protocol. Let us first briefly outline the scheme of Karlsson an Bourennane []. Alice is suppose to posses one qubit in a pure state a + b. She wants to teleport it to two parties Bob an Bob in such a way that none of them can reconstruct the original state by himself. However, when they cooperate the reconstruction is possible even if we allow only local operations an classical communication between them. This task can be easily performe when all three parties have the GHZ-state, i.e. maximally entangle three-particle state of the form ( 3 ) ( + ) SO, () 3 3 where particle 3 belongs to Alice an particles an belong to Bob an Bob, respectively. In the first step of this protocol Alice performs the measurement of her particles (the qubit to be teleporte an the qubit from GHZ-state) in the Bell basis. Depening on the result of measurement, the two remaining particles are in one of the four states a + b, () a + b, (3) a b, (4) a b. (5)
The last three states can be transforme to the first one by the use of local unitary operations, so we consier only this state. To recover the original state, Bob applies Haamar transform to his qubit an makes a measurement. The resulting state after the measurement is or ( b ) a + (6) ( b ) a. (7) Thus, if Bob sens the result of his measurement to Bob then Bob can recover the original state. If we replace the three-particle maximally entangle state in the protocol of teleportation by N + -particle maximally entangle, then the above protocol can be easily generalize to split the information among N parties (Bob, Bob,...,Bob N ). At the en of the splitting protocol N parties share the state given by a b... +.... (8) N N To recover the information Bob, Bob 3,...,Bob N perform Haamar transformation an a measurement on their qubits. Knowing the results of all measurements, Bob can transform his qubit to the state a + b. (9) Now we will generalize this protocol for quits. We will nee the following unitary operations. The first one is quantum Fourier transform QFT which acts only on -th quit iπ k QFT exp k. () k For the case of qubits ( ) this is simply the Haamar transform. The next one is a - imensional generalization of XOR (performe on the -th an ν -th quit), given by the following efinition 3
XOR ν k k + mo ν. () ν Let N + parties share initially the state of the form SO, () ( ) N +... which is maximally entangle state of N + quits. Alice also has a quit in the state N + Ψ. (3) Thus, the state of the whole system is ( ) Ψ SO N + k k.... (4) N + k In orer to teleport the state Ψ, Alice an Bob, Bob,...,Bob N have to perform the following operations (Step.) Alice applies XOR N + an then QFT. The resulting state is k l iπkl k exp l + k mo.... (5) N + With the use of the substitution k + mo m Eq. 5 takes the form k m l iπkl k exp l m k mo m k mo... m k mo N m N +. (6) (Step.) Alice measures her quits (in computational basis). If the result of this measurement is l m then the remaining N quits are in the state N + k iπkl k exp m k mo m k mo... m k mo. (7) N Steps an are equivalent to the measurement in the generalize Bell basis. (Step 3.) Alice sens the results of her measurement l an m to Bob an m to Bob, Bob 3,...,Bob N. 4
(Step 4.) Bob performs unitary operation m k mo iπkl exp k. (8) Bob, Bob 3,...,Bob N perform unitary operations m k mo (,..., N ). (9) k The final state share by Bob, Bob,...,Bob N is ( N ) k QSS... k k k. () N Each party now possesses a quit, which can be escribe by the following reuce iagonal ensity operator R k k ρ k k, () which means that each party alone oes not have the information on phases between the states k. One of the parties (e.g. Bob ) can reconstruct the original state if all parties cooperate in the process of the subsequent transforms QSS ( N) QSS( N )... QSS() Ψ. () Below, we present how the transform QSS ( K) QSS( K ) ( K,..., N ) can be performe with the use of local operations an classical communication. (Step.) Bob K applies quantum Fourier transform (QFT K ) to his quit QFT K QSS ( K ) k iπ k exp... k. (3) K (Step.) Bob K measures his quit in the computational basis. If he obtains the result kk the state of the remaining quits is QSS ( ) K iπ k K exp.... (4) N 5
(Step 3.) Bob K sens the result of his measurement to Bob. (Step 4.) Bob changes phase of his quit in the following way iπ k exp K. (5) After these steps the first K parties share the following state ( K ) QSS. (6)... It is clear that if Bob, Bob 3,...,Bob N perform the above protocol (Step. To Step. 4) then K Bob will obtain the esire state of his quit i.e. Ψ QSS (). It is worth noting that the transform QSS ( N) Ψ although written as a recursive formula (Eq. ) can be performe in parallel. In this case, Bob can perform all necessary phase changes in one step (instea of N ). The appropriate unitary transform is ( k + k +... k ) iπ 3 + exp N. (7) In conclusion, we have presente a protocol allowing to split the information on the quantum state of a - imensional particle among N parties. *Email aress: agie@amu.eu.pl **Email aress: antwo@amu.eu.pl References [] A.
