Znanstveni podsjetnik : Aerosoli i upijanje Sunčevog zračenja Aerosols Protocol Sunčevo zračenje čine EM valovi različitih valnih duljina Aerosoli i plinovi upijaju/apsorb i raspršuju/scatter svjetlost Aerosoli i plinovi najviše upijaju i raspršuju svjetlost čija valna duljina odgovara veličini molekula Ako znamo (1) atmosferski tlak, i (2) kut elevacije Sunca, možemo odrediti količinu plina između nas i Sunca (debljinu atmosfere u pravcu Sunca) Ukoliko nema oblaka, tada je absorpcija Sunčevog zračenja uzrokovana atmosferom i aerosolima

Instrumenti: Sunčev fotometar Optička debljina atmosfere Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) je u rasponu od 0 (100% propusnost zračenja) do >5.0 (<1% propusnost zračenja) Sunčev fotometar nabavljamo u dogovoru s GLOBE znanstvenicima

Collecting Data: Protocol Select red or green channel (three measurements needed for each) Record maximum voltage reading Record dark voltage reading Record the precise time Observe and record cloud conditions, current air temperature, and relative humidity Ideally at a particular sun angle in the morning when the sun is visible
