About the Placement Tests Discover English Placement Tests check students general knowledge o vocabulary, grammar and unctions. They can be used to identiy the most suitable starting point or a class. The tests have been written on the basis o the content o the Starter Level. Administering the test Make sure that your students sit comortably. Hand out the tests to students. Note that there are two versions o the test so that students have no chance o copying answers rom each other. Distribute the two versions in a way that suits the seating arrangement in your classroom. Tell students that they should mark their answers clearly on the tests. Explain what they need to do in every task. Set a time limit. The whole test should take no more than 30 minutes. You should give 1 point or each correct answer. Thus, the total number o points or the test is 30. The point values or each section are given below. Section Maximum score 15 10 5 Interpreting the results A score o 24 points and above means that students are ready to start learning rom Discover English 1. I your students get between 18 and 23 points, you may decide to start rom Level 1. However, you will need more time and extra activities to introduce and cover the material. I your students get ewer than 18 points, Discover English Starter is a more suitable starting point or them.
