KADIPA 3 Mineral Resources in Kaduna Kaduna State is endowed with mineral resources spread across almost all its 23 LGAs. There are at least 85 mineral exploration licenses, 40 Quarry licenses, 15 Mining Leases and 3 Small Scale Mining Leases within the state. Kaduna State covers 46,053km 2 of predominantly metamorphic rocks of the Nigerian Basement Complex consisting of biotite gneisses and older granites. It also includes the highly mineralized Precambrian pegmatites of Nigeria Gold Mining in Birnin Gwari discovery by artisanal miners following the extensions of the Tsohon Birnin Gwari mine In Nigeria, Gold occurrence is associated with the schist belts of northwest and southwest of Nigeria. One of the most significant proven gold mineralizations in the country is in the Tsohon Birnin Gwari-Kwaga area. These areas are located within the Kushaka schist belt of Northwestern Nigeria. While the Tsohon Birnin Gwari was an active gold mine in the 1930s with over 600 ounces of gold produced, the Kwaga mine is a recent Aeromagentic Data over Sheet 144 (Kakuri region)

Gold is mainly associated with pyrite and minor sphalerite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, galena and magnetite. The gangue is predominantly quartz, but K-feldspar and graphitic matter (from wall rocks) are also constituents. Grades are very variable within the reef system and between oxide and sulphide ore zones, but generally 5-100g/t Au are found. Recent core drilling and near-surface mine exposures have provided relatively fresh samples of the gold-quarz reefs and their altered wall rocks from which the geochemical characteristics of the Tsohon Birnin Gwari mineralization were studied. Kaduna Mining and Development Company Limited (KMDC) has delineated 600 km 2 area of interest for exploration. It is securing Exploration Licenses for the tenements.
KADIPA 5 Kaduna State Government and KMDC have created a strategic mineral development plan with short to long-term goals. The short-term goals include Artisanal Mining support programs, medium term goals include Cutting and Polishing of Dimension stones and the long-term goal is in-depth exploration programs for strategic minerals for the state. KMDC welcomes strategic investments and partnerships in its Mineral Development Projects. SHORT TERM MEDIUM TERM LONG TERM Incorporate State Minerals Entity Acquire Licenses with established artisanal mining Formalize Artisanal Miners on assets Safer Mining Initiatives Collect Revenue from Miners Capacity building & Tax Incentives Establish Processing & Buying Centres Take Advantage of Ministry Initiatives, allocated budget/manpower & plans. Utilize Consultant s technical solutions to formalizing artisanal miners and eliminating leakages. Take advantage of projects DFIs can support Acquire Equity or outright purchase of brownfield projects in the state Provide services to the quarry sector Cutting & Polishing of Dimension stones Processing & Beneficiation plants Leveraging existing industry and assets. Take advantage of projects private finance will fund Aeromagnetic Data Interpretation Geochemical sampling, pitting & trenching Induced Polarization & Geophysical Mapping Satellite & Hyper Electro Magnetic Spectral (HEMS) Analysis GIS for Natural Resources While its long term, it should commence immediately Need Data & exploration results to attract foreign and larger investments Results of short and medium terms will bring momentum and possibly earlier funding than planned.
KADIPA 6 Exploration & Mining Partnerships
KADIPA 7 Kaduna State potentially has some of the best Gold, Tin and Nickel assets in West Africa. 23 potential targets for economic mineralization have been identified with 3 major potential targets with the most significant anomalies, geological structures and lithology. Banke The Cassiterite and Wolframite deposits in Banke belong to the Lode structure in the Jurasic ring complex. Several assets in the region are old brownfields which have proven reserves of Cassiterite/Tin in commercial volume. KMDC is in current negotiation to partner with a major operator and asset owner for Tin production and further exploration for Cassiterite reserves. Kaduna Aeromagnetic Interpretation A series of granitic rocks of various ages form a Basement Complex which covers most of Kaduna State. The multiple granitic contacts and a number of regional shears within the Complex indicate the potential for discovering large mineral deposits in the State. Kaduna State is highly prospective for the discovery of a number of other mineral deposits based on its Mesozoic/Proterozoic geology and unique geomagnetic anomalies and signatures. Interpretation of aeromagnetic data has identified 23 potential targets for economic mineralization. Predominant targets are for Gold and Cassiterite. Further work is warranted on each potential mineralization target. Mineral License Distribution across Kaduna State

KADIPA 9 Artisanal & Small Scale Mining
KADIPA 10 There are several thousands of Artisanal Miners in Kaduna State. In Birnin Gwari, their activities are vast and impressive. "Harnessing the potential of ASM to improve rural livelihoods, to stimulate entrepreneurship in a socially-responsible manner, to promote local and integrated national development as well as regional cooperation" -- The Africa Mining Vision (2009) Pursuing this goal is expected to result in the following outcome: "A viable and sustainable ASM sector that contributes to growth and development." AMV Action Plan (2013) Strategy for artisanal mining KMDC securing several Small Scale Mining Leases for Artisanal Miners. Employment Creation & Wealth generation. Support the formalization process of artisanal miners into cooperatives. Effective data collection for the sector. Systemize collection of government royalties. Provide viable safer options for mining & processing. Increase productivity of artisanal miners. Extension services, training and capacity building for artisanal miners. Financial education & literary to break poverty cycle of miners. Introduce sustainable mining practices. Health, Environment, Insurance & social development schemes. Support Infrastructure management and conservation. At least N5,000 per day passes through an artisanal miner s hands in Birnin Gwari with little to show for it at the end of the month. Proposed Gold Processing Plant & Buying Centre in Bagoma, Birnin Gwari LGA
KADIPA 11 Planned Gold Processing Plant & Buying Centre for Artisanal Miners in Bagoma Birnin Gwari LGA Gold Processing Plant Specification 10 ton/hr processing capacity. Plant includes Jaw crushers, Ball Mill machines, & Vortex Concentrators. Facility includes borehole water supply for the community, gold buying centre, training centre, bath & washroom facilities, secure storage and praying grounds. Expected to support about 2000 artisanal miners in the vicinity. Dimension Stones Nigeria s basement complex hosts a wide variety of granites with attractive colours and textures. Kaduna State has several colors and textures of quality granite. There is a 4,000,000 m 2 demand for granite/marble in Nigeria. Only 200,000 m 2 is presently being produced locally, creating a huge market and opportunity gap for the granite rich State. Furthermore, the development of dimension stones is one of the Federal Govt s strategic interventions towards the transformation of the minerals industry as a catalyst for economic growth.
