MM 2 The new Generation of Mobile Mass Spectrometers Innovation with Integrity Defence CBRNE

Picture by: MOWAG GmbH Mobile CWA Detection and Identification Low weight and high performance detector Introducing a novel vacuum system reflects the trend towards modern high-performance, lightweight detection equipment and the application of current micro-controller based technologies for instrument control. With a volume of 43 litres and a weight of 35 kg, a milestone in GC/MS technology has been reached. Integration of the MM2 into the Piranha vehicle Ready to face terrorist attacks In a world of changing threats, the MM2 represents the latest development in military-hardened, mobile and lightweight GC/MS systems. Its design is benefiting from more than 25 years of experience in mobile mass spectrometry at Bruker Daltonics. The MM2 is the state-of-the-art mass spectrometer for the detection and identification of chemical agents and toxic industrial chemicals in defence and homeland security applications. The MM2 is optimized for long-term chemical reconnaissance in various armoured vehicles, as well as for mobile chemical agent inspection and detection missions that require positive identification. Mobile mass spectrometry is also the technology of choice for the identification of unknown chemical compounds due to its specificity, especially in combination with gas chromatography. New generation of GC/MS The MM2 represents a new generation of quadrupole mass spectrometers with a membrane inlet. Equipped with various accessories, such as the air/surface probe and the gas chromatograph with thermodesorption, all current chemical detection tasks can be easily tackled. Easy operation and flexible applications The MM2 is able to identify any organic chemical from any medium (soil, water or air) within 15 minutes via complementary sampling techniques. Specifications and performance are not limited to a selected portion of chemicals. New libraries can be created and used by the customer. The detection limit for volatile organic compounds and volatile agents is from the low ppb to the low ppm range depending on the analytical procedure, e.g. adsorbent enrichment (low ppb range) or on-line monitoring (very low ppm range) from ambient air. Vehicle integration The system can be integrated into vehicles or networks consisting of chemical and biological detectors. Training and operation has been optimized and simplified whilst the reliability has been improved. Representing a new level of highly professional, on-site analysis technology the MM2 has been selected to become part of all kind of mobile and stationary chemical detection missions all over the world.

MM2 Analysis - Monitoring Controlling and Data Acquisition The MM2 is enhanced by two software modules for instrument control and data acquisition. The MM2 Analysis (operator level) supports simple and straightforward operation of the system for default methods. The MM2 control (for advanced users) is used to set all the parameters of the instrument providing the capability to create new applications. Both software tools incorporate fully automated data evaluation based on the NIST spectra library (National Institute of Standards and Technology), the Bruker CWALib (optional) and TICLib (Toxic Industrial Compounds) or a customer specified library. Air-, surface- and wheel monitoring mode of CWA/TIC: up to 20 substances simultaneously up to 8 characteristic ions per substance MM2 Analysis - GC Run The software tools are compatible with standard WINDOWS systems and standard PCs. Data transfer is provided via an Ethernet-100 interface. Recording chromatograms of complex substance mixtures and identification of the substances via MS spectra libraries (NIST, CWALib, TICLib) Our product line for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear detection Nuclear & Radiation Detection SVG 2 The new generation of nuclear radiation detectors RAID-XP, RAID-AFM (NC version) Innovative and flexible instruments for NC detection VeroTect Real-time generic biodetector Biological Agent Detection ptd Automated on-site detection of toxins M-BL Automated on-site detection of bacterial and viral pathogens MALDI Biotyper Software tool for reliable identification of unknown microorganisms (BWA) Chemical Warfare Agent Detection Personal Chemical Agent Detector Chemical Emergencies & Demilitarisation MM 2 Mobile Mass Spectrometer for reconnaissance vehicles RAID series Rapid Alarm and Identification Devices based on proven IMS technology RAPID FT-IR Stand-off detector for atmospheric pollutants µraid The compact, flexible and reliable personal detector E 2 M Enhanced Environmental Mass Spectrometer for mobile on-site analysis Mobile-IR Portable FT-IR Spectrometer NIGAS System for non-invasive identification of explosives and CWA
