Note: The Key West Police Department has asked that we remind drivers that the right turn on red law IS IN EFFECT at the entrance to Key West, travelling inbound from US1 onto North Roosevelt Boulevard, and outbound from South Roosevelt Boulevard onto US1. If the red arrow appears allowing bicycles and pedestrians to cross the intersection, vehicular traffic IS PERMITTED to turn right on the red arrow after coming to a complete stop, and as long as any bicycle or pedestrian traffic has cleared. UPCOMING Monroe County: Key West and Lower Keys SR 5/Truman Avenue from Whitehead St. to Eisenhower Dr. Project Start: June 2015 Projected Completion: December 2015 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project runs along SR5/Truman Avenue in Key West, from Whitehead Street to Truman Avenue and is scheduled to last approximately 140 days, 20 of which will be for milling and repaving. The improvements under this Contract consist of: Signalization at various intersections Sidewalk improvements including ADA compliance Milling and repaving along SR 5/Truman Avenue from Whitehead Street to Eisenhower Drive.

SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway from Key West to Big Coppitt Key (mm 3.9 to 9.8) Project Start: April 2015 Projected Completion: June 2016 WORK SCHEDULED FOR NEXT TWO WEEKS: Major anticipated activities will be drainage work on Stock Island, bridge rehabilitation work on the Boca Chica Bridge, southbound, and shoulder widening on the 4-lane. NIGHT TIME WORK/LANE CLOSURES: The merge lane from South Roosevelt Boulevard onto US1 has been shortened to allow for draining work to begin on the northbound side of US1. Therefore, traffic leaving the island from South Roosevelt onto US1 will be controlled by a traffic signal. Right-on-red will be permitted by law only after a complete stop and vehicular and pedestrian traffic has cleared. Lane shifts will be in effect on the northbound lanes of US1 on Stock Island, and on the southbound lanes of the Boca Chica bridge. No closures are anticipated for this week. SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway, BAHIA HONDA BRIDGE REPAIR (mm 35.5 to 36.6) Project Start: June 2013 Projected Completion: July 2015 WORK SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK: The Contractor will continue pile repair and beam repair. Most of the work will be from the underside of the bridge, except for the concrete pours. Monroe County: Marathon and Middle Keys SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway, LONG KEY BRIDGE REPAIR (mm 63 to 65) Project Start: January 2014 Projected Completion: January 2016 WORK SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK: Concrete and drill shaft operations will continue. A 40MPH speed limit is specified in the contract plans for workers safety during the duration of the project. However, these signs may be covered if there is no work being performed which would allow the regular posted speed limit to stay in effect. Intermittent lane shifts in the early morning hours will continue during concrete pouring and drilled shaft operations.
