Productive Capacities, Export Diversification and Structural Economic Transformation in African Landlocked Developing Countries: Challenges, Opportunities and the Way Forward Day 2 Wednesday, 21 November 2018 09:00 12:30 Session III: Productive Capacities and Structural Economic Transformation: Concepts, Measurement, Benchmarking by Using the Productive Capacities Index (PCI) for Evidence- Based Policy Formulation in African Landlocked Developing Countries This session is intended to explain the concepts of Productive Capacities, Structural Economic Transformation and Export Diversification, and highlight their role in the development process. It will discuss UNCTAD s Productive Capacities Index (PCI) and assess the level of such capacities in LLDCs. 15:45 17:00 Policy Conclusions and the Way Forward This session is dedicated to summing up the conclusions of the workshop over the course of the two days and outlining the way forward. Key elements of the conclusions will feed into the outcome of the forthcoming mid-term review of the Vienna Programme of Action for LLDCs for the Decade 2014-2024. It recommends ways in which the priorities of African LLDCs can be meaningfully included in the outcome of the mid-term review.
