Swiss Polar Research Literature survey (by D. Walton) (a status quo) Swiss researchers published 3-4% of all papers on polar research worldwide in the last 15 yr. The larger part of the papers was on the Arctic. Publication activity increased over-proportionally in recent years Highest numbers of publications and citations was from ETHZ and UniBern The most frequent collaborations on the publications was with: CNRS, Helmholtz Association (AWI), NERC, Paris-Saclay, AARI, UCalifornia, UCopenhagen, MPI, NOAA, UUtrecht, Columbia, UStockholm, NASA, UAlaska, UCambridge, UColorado,...

Swiss Committee on Polar and High Altitude Research Committee of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences and the Platform Science and Policy of the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences (SCNAT). The committee s main objectives are: to provide the legal body to represent Switzerland in international committees on polar and high altitude research to play an active role in promoting the change of status of Switzerland from non-voting to voting member of the Antarctic Treaty. to promote the career of young outstanding scientists in the fields of Polar and High Altitude research (Prix De Quervain). to recognize research needs and issues in the thematic fields concerning the committee. to sensitize the society to polar and high altitude research issues to stimulate the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary exchange and cooperation in polar and high altitude issues concerning research, international law and society.
