Renato Tomaš - MC member of COST Action CM1206 from Croatia. - Leader of STSM project: Studies of Molecular Interactions of Some Imidazolium Chloride Ionic Liquids in Water by Viscometric and Volumetric Measurements at Different Temperatures.

My STSM project Department of Physical Chemistry, FCT, University of Split, Croatia Chair of Physical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia 13

My STSM project Ionic liquids (ILs) are compounds consisting an organic cation with an organic or inorganic anion. Investigated systems: Solutions of 1- methylimidazolium -, 1,3-dimethylimidazolium -, 1- ethyl-3-methylimidazolium -, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium -, 1- hexyl-3-methylimidazolium -, 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride + water at different temperatures Thermodynamic and transport properties of investigated ILs are obtained by viscosity and density methods. Influence of alkyl chain length on ion-ion and ion-solvent interactions was investigated. 14

My STSM project Equipments for research work: automatic measurement system ViscoSystem AVS 370 and oscillating U-tube denimeter Anton- Paar DMA 5000 top equipment for this research! Influence of alkyl chain length of ILs: EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OF PHYSICOCHEMICAL STUDIES WILL BE COMPARED WITH COMPUTATION METHODS FOR MOLECULAR INTERACTIONS STUDY. Collaborators on research STSM project: Full Professor Dr. Marija Bešter-Rogač (University of Ljubljana) PhD Student Aleksandar Tot (University of Novi Sad) 15

Dissemination plans (my STSM project): Oral presentation on COST CM1206 Meeting (Advances on Green Technologies), 18-20 th April 2016, Poznan, Poland. Oral presentation (soon) on the 26 th EUCHEM Conference on Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids, whichwillbeheldfrom3-8 th July 2016, Vienna, Austria. Participation on final MC Meeting, WG Meetings and Workshop for the Action EXIL, which will be held from 3-5 th April 2017, Lyon, France. Publishing results of investigation (soon) in an international journal with high impact factor. 16

Conclusions: Personal experience as an Action participant and examples of best practice: a) work with the best research equipment, b) joint cooperation with Prof Marija Bešter-Rogač, with a great international reputation (published a large number of high quality papers, Editor in Chief for Acta Chimica Slovenica, member of Journal of Molecular Liquids Editorial Board), c) participation on conferences and meetings, d) exchange of new ideas, e) harmonizing research activities, f) scientific training, g) publishing works, h) international cooperation and networking. 17

Conclusions: Added value of networking for me: a) better possibility for the realization of new project ideas in the future, b) more likely to fund project proposals, c) meet with new people, d) helps me in academic development, e) the next steps: bilateral or multilateral projects, f) some of the nice moments with collegues: 18
