Class 20. The Origin and Nature of Spirits Proofs of the Existence and Survival of the Spirits The Spirits Book, Questions 76 to 83 Genesis, Ch. XI
If the thought were a property of matter, one would see that the brute matter can think. Since the inert matter has never been endowed with intellectual faculties and when the body is dead it doesn t think anymore, one must conclude that the soul is independent of matter, and that the physical body is only an instrument with the help of which the human being expresses its thought. Translated from Obras Póstumas, Allan Kardec, First Part, item 4.
The Origin and Nature of Spirits
The Spirits Book Questions 76 to 83 The Origin and Nature of the Spirits In this case, Spirits are the intelligent beings of creation, and not the intelligent universal element. Proofs of the Existence and Survival of Spirits
The existence of the soul is proven by the intelligent acts of the human being, that must have an intelligent cause and not an inert cause. Its independence of matter is clearly demonstrated by spiritualistic phenomena, in an evident way, that shows the soul acting by itself, and above all, by the experiments in its life, allowing it to express itself, think and act in the absence of the body. [ ] Translated from Obras Póstumas, Allan Kardec, First Part, item 6
7. The soul of the human being survives the body and maintains its individuality after death. [ ] The survival of the soul after death is confirmed, in an irrefutable way and of some tangible form, by the spirit communications. [ ]
Examples : Exteriorization of the soul Haunted houses Table-Turning Psychography Verbal communications Materializations Near-death experiences Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC)
Conclusion: Origin of Spirit is a mystery, but its existence is proved by the intelligent acts of the human being, that must recognize an intelligent cause and not an inert cause.
