EUREF 2014 Resolutions Z. Altamimi, C. Bruyninx, R. Dach, M. Lidberg, M. Poutanen, W. Sohne, J. Torres, M. Greaves

Resolution 1 considering the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) which identified the economic importance of the Global Geodetic Reference Frame (GGRF) and recognising the need to improve global cooperation within geodesy for geo-referencing, location-based and scientific applications; and noting the intention of UN-GGIM to submit a resolution to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and thereafter the UN General Assembly on the importance of the GGRF for sustainable development; recommends that the European Member States contributing to EUREF actively support the UN-GGIM initiative and the submitting of the resolution to ECOSOC and the UN General Assembly, and to contribute to the activities of the UN-GGIM Working Group on the GGRF. Slide 2

Resolution 2 noting the positive response to the 2013 questionnaire on a proposed EUREF technical tutorial and considering the usefulness of such an event, encourages the EUREF Technical Working Group, in partnership with the Local Organising Committees of upcoming EUREF symposia, to establish a EUREF tutorial as a one day event in conjunction with the symposium. Slide 3

Resolution 3 considering the INSPIRE directive defines, that for the vertical component on land, the EVRS shall be used to express gravity-related heights for the areas within the geographical scope of EVRS and recognising the increasing need for precise height systems outside the geodetic community, such as in maritime operations recommends that the member countries of EUREF encourage their maritime communities to adopt the same realization of the EVRS for the Chart Datum as the country is using for its INSPIRE products on land. Slide 4

Resolution 4 considering the importance of new observables, from existing and new satellite systems, to the analysis work of the IGS MGEX project and to the EUREF Working Group on Multi-GNSS and recognising the benefits of a long-term data archive for future operations and activities of the EPN and noting the difficulties caused when the submitted data does not conform to requested standards requests that station operators make efforts to submit all possible observation types and to use RINEX v3.02 format for these data in addition to using RINEX 2.11 for regular EPN data submissions. Slide 5

Resolution 5 recognising the important role of supporting the activities of the EUREF Local Analysis Centres, expresses its heartfelt thanks to the former Troposphere Analysis Coordinator Wolfgang Söhne, from the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy, for more than ten years of excellent work, and accepts the proposal of Rosa Pacione from the Italian Space Agency and Centro di Geodesia Spaziale, to take on the duties and responsibilities of the Troposphere Analysis Coordinator. Slide 6

Resolution 6 which held its twenty fourth symposium in Vilnius from June 4-6, 2014 Expresses its heartfelt thanks to the Local Organising Committee: Vaidas Pakalaka, Tomas Ladukas, Prof. Eimuntas Paršeliūnas, Jurgita Špūraitė, Jolita Aldonienė and Robertas Aleliūnas for organising the symposium and for the excellent arrangements resulting in a very successful meeting and for the support given by the National Land Service, the Research Institute of Geodesy and also sponsors Leica Geosystems and Alberding GmbH.
