MARKET INTELLIGENCE SUMMARY All-India RTC clearing price slipped marginally as supply increased to the highest level since 18 September. Buy bids volume increased 3.3% to 247 MUs, a new multi-day high while sell bids volume was up 17% to 160 MUs. Major jump in procurement came from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha while Gujarat maintain procurement of 40 MUs, or more than a fourth of the cleared volume. WESTERN REGION: Several power units were shutdown due to technical outage as well as fuel shortage across the western region on 6 October. However, a total of 2,276 MW capacity was also revived on the day; three of these unit had earlier been shut due to coal shortage, including Adani Tiroda (660 MW) and RattanIndia (270 MW). On 7 October, Maharashtra suffered outage of 710 MW due to technical reasons while a 660 MW unit of NTPC Sipat was shutdown due to boiler tube leakage. NORTHERN REGION: On 6 October, a 600 MW unit in the state sector in Rajasthan was shutdown due to coal shortage while in Punjab a 700 MW unit was revived which had been shut since 15 September due to fuel shortage. As per revision #36 on 7 October, Uttar Pradesh had reported an increase of 9% in grid import indicating an increase in demand (possibly due to increasing temperatures). The state had to increase procurement from IEX inspite of the 7% increase in supply from central sector power plants. EASTERN REGION: On 6 October, power supply from central sector to West Bengal declined by around 9 MUs (as per revision #29) while there was little change in the total grid import volume.
