!! SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS!! Figure 1 The BLEC Cultipack seeder is designed for safe use. This can only be achieved if you completely follow the safety instructions described in this manual. Read and understand (Figure 1) the manual before you start using the BLEC-Redexim machine. If the machine is not used as described in this manual, this can result in injuries and/or damage to the machine. INTENDED USE OF THE MACHINE AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE USER Treating fields/lawns is the only purpose of the machine. Any other use is improper. The manufacturer will not accept any liability for damage resulting from improper use. All risks occurring with this are entirely at the expense of the user. All persons assigned to operate, maintain and repair the machine by the owner must completely read and understand the operation manual and in particular the chapter of Safety Instructions. The machine is manufactured according to the latest technical understanding and is safe to use. Modifications to the Cultipack seeder (including its operations) that have a negative impact on safety must be rectified immediately. The user is obliged to check the Cultipack seeder for visible damage and defects before using the Cultipack seeder. For safety reasons it is in principle not permitted to make changes or adjustments to the Cultipack seeder (except those approved by the manufacturer). If modifications to the Cultipack seeder have been made, then the current CE marking is cancelled. The person that has made these modifications has to apply for a new CE marking himself. Following the use, maintenance and repair instructions prescribed by the manufacturer is also considered proper use of this machine. The user is responsible for a safe combination of the Cultipack seeder and the tiller. This entire combination must be tested for noise, safety, risk and user friendliness. User instructions should also be drafted. Dress appropriately during work activities to the Cultipack seeder. Wear sturdy shoes with steel toecaps, long trousers and tie up long hair. Do not wear loose clothing. The general applicable health & safety (Dutch: ARBO) regulations must also be followed in addition to the instructions in this user manual. Relevant traffic regulations also apply in case of using public roads. 3

1. TECHNICAL DATA Model Cultipack seeder Working width 91cm Seed volume capacity 3 50 g per m 2 Hopper capacity 55 litres Maximum surface area per hour 5000 m 2 per hour Suitable tiller with 2 wheels Honda F720 power tiller or similar Weight of the Cultipack seeder 325kg Dimensions of the Cultipack seeder Width 110, length 100 and height 70 Weight of the Cultipack seeder and the Honda F720 power tiller Dimensions of the Cultipack seeder and the Honda F720 power tiller 420kg Grease EP 2 Width 110, length 180 and height 120 2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Cultipack seeder is a machine that can be used for sowing seeds in grass fields and sport fields. The machine must be attached to a suitable tiller that is suitable to carry out this operation. The front rollers dig trenches in the ground. The sowing unit consists of a hopper that distributes the correct quantity of grass seeds evenly on to the ground. The quantity of seeds can be adjusted by means of the handles located on the hopper. After the seeds have fallen into the trenches, the rear roller takes care of covering the seeds with soil. The machine has a footplate on which the operator can stand to operate the machine. You can also opt to walk in back of the machine. In that case, the footplate can be folded upwards. 9

3. FIRST INSTALLATION The Cultipack seeder must be prepared for first use as follows (see Figure 5): 1. Slide the drums including the cast-iron rings (10) on the axle of the two-wheel tiller. Start with the small ring of half the thickness of the other ones. The bolts and nuts that secure the rings must be directed outwards. 2. Secure the drums at both sides using the clips (12). 3. Attach the hitch jaw (1) to the two-wheel tiller using the pins (2). 4. Secure the pins by means of two bolts (4) and two nuts (3). 5. Attach the hinge point (5) to the hitch jaw (1) by using the pin (6). 6. Secure the pin (6) by means of a bolt (7) and a nut (8). 7. Mount the scraper support (13) using bolts (9) and nuts (14). 8. Adjust the scraper by means of the bolts and nuts to create a gap of 6-10mm between the cast-iron rings (10) and the scraper. Figure 5 10

4. USING THE CULTIPACK SEEDER Before using the Cultipack seeder, you should check the following: 1. Are there loose objects in the field? First remove these objects. 2. Are there slopes? The maximum slope is 20 degrees for this machine. Always go from top to bottom. 3. Are there hard objects in the ground? If so, use the Cultipack seeder at adjusted speed. 4. Is there danger of flying objects (e.g., golf balls) that distract the attention of the driver? If so, the Cultipack seeder CANNOT be used. 5. Is there danger of sinking/sliding away? If so, postpone using the Cultipack seeder. 6. If the soil is frozen or very wet, postpone the activities until conditions improve. 5. OPERATING THE CULTIPACK SEEDER The Cultipack seeder has a mechanism with which you can accurately set the quantity of seeds. This mechanism consists of two stainless-steel plates containing openings that can shift in relation to each other. This shifting ensures that the openings in the plates more or less overlap, so that a greater or smaller number of seeds can pass. The plates are operated by using the left-hand handle (2) (see Figure 6). The right-hand handle operates the shut-off plate. This plate ensures that seeds can no longer come out of the machine by blocking the underside of the hopper. Use the shut-off plate during transport of the Cultipack seeder. Using the adjuster cam (1), you can adjust the maximum quantity of seeds that fall into the soil. The adjuster cam has a numerical scale with which the quantity of seeds supplied is linked to a specific settings of the cam. Figure 6 11

5.1 STARTING THE WORK ACTIVITIES 1. Drive to a spot where sowing must be carried out. 2. Check whether there are enough seeds in the hopper. 3. Put the handle (2) for the quantity of seeds in the minimum position (Figure 6). 4. Check whether the adjustment cam is in the correct position. 5. Stop de motor. 6. Put the tiller into gear so that you can drive at 5-8 km/h. This is a fast walking tempo. 7. Put the handle (2) for the quantity of seeds in the maximum position. 8. Operate the clutch so that the tiller starts to drive. Standing on the footplate can help with starting to sow; this assists the traction of the tiller. 6. SETTING THE QUANITY OF SEEDS The quantity of seeds should be adjusted for the correct operation of the Cultipack seeder. You should consider the following instructions for this: The speed with which the machine was driven during adjusting must also be used during the remaining work activities. In most cases, it is recommended to cover the same piece of soil several times. At that time, you should take the quantity of seeds into account. For example: driving over the same piece twice means that the quantity of seeds must be divided by two. You will need the following accessories for adjusting the quantity of seeds: - A scale - A tray for weighing the seeds - Enough seeds for filling at least 30% of the hopper 12

6.1 SPREAD RATE TEST Adjusting is done as follows: 1. Check what is the ideal quantity of the specific seeds per square metre (e.g., 35 g per square metre). 2. Put the handle (2) for adjusting the seeds in the minimum position (Figure 6). 3. Make sure that the hopper is filled at least 30% with seeds. 4. Use the seed tray (1) to catch the seeds (see Figure 7). You can slide the seed tray under the hopper. Figure 7 5. Measure a distance of 20 metres. Mark the beginning and the end with sticks or another easily recognizable object. 6. Position the Cultipack seeder at the beginning of the 20 metres. 7. Estimate the correct settings of the adjuster cam and turn the cam (1) to the estimated value. If you cannot estimate a value, then 65 is a good starting point (see Figure 6). 8. Turn the handle (2) that affects the quantity of seeds to the maximum position (see Figure 6). 9. Put the right-hand handle (3) in the seed open position. 10. Start the motor, cover the 20 metres and switch off the motor. 11. Remove the seed tray (1) from the machine and empty the tray into a container, jar or other holder. 12. Weigh the seeds. The Cultipack seeder has distributed a surface area of 18.5 m 2 after driving 20 metres. By dividing the amount of grams by 18.5, you can determine how much seed the machine distributes per square metre. Compare this outcome with the ideal value that you looked for in Step 1. 13. If the Cultipack seeder has distributed too much or not enough seeds, the adjustment cam (1) must be repositioned. Estimate what would be a better setting and turn the cam accordingly (see Figure 6). Subsequently, repeat this procedure. 13

7. TRANSPORTING THE CULTIPACK SEEDER The user is responsible for transporting the Cultipack seeder on public roads. Verify the national legislation regarding the regulations. 8. DETACHING THE CULTIPACK SEEDER Remove the coupling pin (6) and remove the Cultipack seeder (Figure 5). During detaching, switch off the motor and block the tiller against moving. 14

9. TROUBLE SHOOTING (PROBLEM ANALYSIS) Problem Possible cause Solution The seeds do not reach the correct depth. The tiller does not have sufficient traction. No seeds come out of the machine. The soil is too hard. Not enough weight on the machine Soil is too wet. Not enough weight on the machine The seeds stick to each other because they are too wet. The handle for adjusting the seeds is in the wrong position. The handle for operating the shut-off plate is in the seed close position. Check whether there are enough seeds in the hopper. Check the drive chain. Loosen the soil by means of ploughing, irrigating, etc. Go stand on the wooden deck. Postpone sowing. Go stand on the machine Use different seeds. Use the handle to affect the seed adjustment. Operate the handle to open the flap. Top up with seeds. Stretch the drive chain if necessary. 10. MAINTENANCE Time schedule Check / Grease point Method Before every use Check for loose bolts / nuts. Tighten loose bolts / nuts with the correct tightening moment. Attach the machine to the tiller and operate the machine for 5 minutes. Presence and readability of the safety stickers (Figure 4) Listen and observe any strange movements / sounds. Replace these if not present or damaged. After every use Clean the hopper. Remove the remaining seeds from the hopper. After the first 20 working hours Check for loose bolts / nuts. Tighten loose bolts / nuts with the correct tightening (new or repaired) After every 10 hours After every 50 working hours Attach the machine to the tiller and operate the machine for 5 minutes. Grease the lubrication points (see Figure 8). Check the tension of the drive chain. Grease the stainless-steel plates of the seed adjustment system moment. Listen and observe any strange movements / sounds. Use EP2 grease -1 shot See Figure 9. Use lubrication based on lithium. 15

11. TECHNICAL INFORMATION: LUBRICATION POINTS To guarantee the proper functioning of the Cultipack seeder, the lubrication points must be greased periodically. See Figure 8 for the location of the grease nipples. Grease these points according to the table in page 17. Figure 8 16

11.1 TECHNICAL INFORMATION: STRETCHING THE DRIVE CHAIN The drive chain of the Cultipack seeder must be stretched as follows: 1. Dismount the cover plate. 2. Check the tension of the chain (3). The chain should have approx. 5mm play at the bottom side. 3. If necessary, adjust the tension by means of the bolt (2) and the chain tensioner (1). Figure 9 17
