IsoPort WINDOW THERML TRNSMITTNCE JULY, 0 E.C. -0 For some regions and projects there may be minimum energy efficiency requirements for the building envelope, and its components, including windows. The shading coefficient (SC) and the thermal transmittance (U - value) of the window is then required to determine whether the building design complies with the specified energy requirements. Shading coefficient depends on the glass selected and should be obtained from the glass supplier. The U - value of the window varies with the type of glass and sealed unit edge construction, the window frame, and the relative areas of these components. The window thermal transmittance values (U - values) shown in the chart below are based on CS - 0. "Energy Performance Evaluation of Windows and Sliding Glass Doors". U - values of the center of glass, edge of glass and frame areas were computed using the VISION and FRME thermal simulation programs. Overall window U - values were calculated using the following relationship: U w = (U c c + U e e + U f f )/ w where U w = U-value of complete window product U c = calculated center of glass U-value U e = calculated edge of glass U-value U f = calculated frame U-value c = center of glass area e = edge of glass area f = frame area w = total window area OVERLL WINDOW U-VLUE (U ) w For fixed window configurations as shown with height (h) equal to width (w). and assumes no responsibility therefor. 0.0 RE IN SQURE METRES SELED UNIT GLZING TYPE = mm clear / / " air / mm clear / metal spacer / " = mm clear / air / mm low-e / metal spacer / " C = mm clear / argon / mm low-e / metal spacer / " D = mm clear / argon / mm low-e / Helima thermally broken spacer E = mm clear / / " argon / mm low-e / Helima thermally broken spacer F = mm clear / / " argon / mm low-e / Edgetech Super Spacer - low-e coating emittance = 0.0 - low-e coating emittance = 0.0 h w WINDOW U w IN TU / hr ft F 0.0 0.0 0.0 0 D C E F 0 0 RE IN SQURE FEET NOTES: THE OVE SELED UNIT GLZING OPTIONS RE PRESENTED FOR THE PURPOSES OF ILLUSTRTING THERML PERFORMNCE CPILITIES.
