EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.0 Executive Summary Proposed Quartz & Feldspar Mining Project (M. L. No. 80/03) is situated near village Ashapura, Tehsil Nasirabad, District Ajmer, State Rajasthan over an area of 4.875 Ha. The office of Mining Engineer Ajmer (Rajasthan), has issued an Office order for lease grant vide letter no. AKha/Aj/ML No 80/03/2342 dated 30-06-2014 in favor of Shree Balkishan Mittal 14/283, Imli Mohallah, Ajmer (Rajasthan) (Lease document has attached with Additional Documents). The proposed rate of production is 35945 TPA ROM (Max) of Quartz & Feldspar. The estimated project cost is Rs. 60 lakhs. The expected life of mine is about 12 years. The life of mine may change depending upon the prospecting results, rate of production and the extent of mechanization done by the lessee in future (Approved mine plan is attached with Additional Documents). Apart from this, the project will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities to the tune of about 25 persons from the nearby villages. Also, the mine management will conduct medical camps at regular interval in the nearby villages and will help the nearby villages in providing infrastructure like school furniture, water tankers, etc. 2. 2.2 Brief Information about the Project The project has been proposed for mining of 35945 TPA ROM (Max) of Quartz & Feldspar by Opencast Semi-Mechanized Mining method. The mine lease area is 4.875 ha. The expected life of the mine is about 30 years. Water requirement for the proposed project for drinking use, dust suppression and other use will be 2.3 KLD which will be taken from nearby villages. 2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region The minerals Quartz & Feldspar are used in various forms in various industries to manufacture various products. Quartz shall be used in ceramics, glass manufacturing, ferrosilicon, induction furnaces lining, and electric lining industries and in paints. Feldspar shall be used in glass, ceramics, abrasives and electrodes (as flux coating, welding rods and inductors). For all these purposes, quartz and feldspar are usually ground to the size of 200 to 300 mesh in grinding units The raw mineral is to be supplied to the sister concern of the lessee and to the other industries in Udaipur and other parts of Rajasthan. 2.4 Demands-Supply Gap The demand for Quartz & Feldspar is ever growing with the growth of ceramics, glass manufacturing, ferrosilicon, induction furnaces lining, electric lining & paint industries in our country. The mineral is widely used in Walls and Floor Tiles (Glazed Tiles, Vitrified Homogenous Tiles, Fast Firing, Third Firing), Vitreous Porcelain Tableware & Other Ceramic product, Enameled Ceramics & Potteries, Soaps & Detergents, Paints, Paper, Cosmetics and Plastics. The requirement for the mineral is always high in the nearby cities and towns. Therefore there is always a good demand of the mineral in the domestic market. 2.5 Imports vs. Indigenous Production Development needs will be met only through indigenous produced Quartz& Feldspar against the high cost of imported material. 2.6 Export Possibility There is no proposal to export the Quartz & Feldspar. However, Quartz & Feldspar produced from the mine will fulfill the needs of the region and surplus if any, will be considered for export. 2.7 Domestic/ Export Markets Being a manufacturing & decorative minerals Feldspar is the second most important ingredient after clay, the principal use of this Quartz & Feldspar is in ceramics, glass manufacturing, ferrosilicon, induction furnaces lining, and electric lining industries and in paints. 2.8 Employment Generation About 25 persons will be employed along with Mine Manager, Mining Mate, Skilled laborers and unskilled laborers. 3

3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION 3.1 Type of Project Including Interlinked and Interdependent Projects, If Any. This is an independent mining project and there are no interlinked projects involved. The project falls under Category B1 Project or activity 1(a) as per EIA Notifications 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2013. 3.2 Location The mining lease area is located near village Ashapura, Tehsil Nasirabad, District Ajmer and State Rajasthan. The applied lease area is approachable by road north east of village Ashapura about 1 Km. Nasirabad Railway Station is about 8 km in SW direction and Jaipur Airport Udaipur is about 114 km in NE direction from lease area. NH 79A is about 4 Km in West direction. The mining lease area falls in Toposheet number 45 J/15. Fig 1: Location Map of Proposed Project Site 3.3 Details of Alternate Sites Mining is site specific so no alternative site is proposed. 3.4.1 Size or magnitude of operation The mining lease has been granted over an area of 4.875 Ha. The proposed production is 35945 TPA (Max). The average number of working days in the year would be 300. 3.5.1 Physiography: The applied area is situated southeast of village Ashapura. Topographically the applied area is having some undulating topography. The Highest mrl is 457 and lowest mrl is 427. There is no forest land in and around the area. 3.5.2 Regional Geology: Geologically Ajmer super group occupies major part of the district. The Sandmata Complex represented by Migmatite & Granite Gneiss. The Ajmer Super Group includes banded Gneissic complex represented by Sand Mata and mangalwar complexes and the hindoli group. 3.5.2.1 Local Geology Mineral deposit of the lease area belongs to the Shambhugarh formation Sand Mata Complex of Ajmer Super Group. The mineral is exposed on the surface as well as below the ground level. Recent-Soil Intrusive Pegmatite and quartz veins Ajmer Super Group (SandMata Complex)-Migmatite, Granite Gneiss Migmatite & Granite Gneiss is compact and medium to coarse grained. Its colour is Black as it is rich in Biotite. The stratigraphic succession of different litho units exposed in the area is as follows: Soil Cover/ Alluvium- The soil/alluvium covers a small part of the lease area. It is derived locally and occupies the low-lying areas and can be used for cultivation purposes. The thickness of soil cover varies from few centimeters to two meter. Migmatite Gneisses Migmatite 7 Granite Gneiss rock of the area has been intruded by Pegmatite & Quartz body. Quartz & Pegmatite body forms the main litho units of the applied area. Pegmatite/Quartz body- The Banded Gneissic Complex, i.e. Schist of the area is intruded by pegmatite and quartz body. Pegmatite occurs as coarsely crystalline dyke. The Body is mainly composed of Quartz- feldspar and occurs as graphic intergrowth in the pegmatite body. This pegmatite may generally be regarded as originating from residual magma, subsequent to the granitic intrusions in the area. The pegmatites follow the foliation direction of schist in which they are intrusive. Quartz in pegmatite is white to off-white in color and intermixed with feldspar crystals. Feldspar is creamish to pinkish in color and mainly it is soda feldspar. It also occurs intermixed with quartz. Zoning is not observed in the pegmatite body. 3.6 Project description with process details 3.6.1 Method of Mining Method: The applied mine shall be developed by opencast Semi-Mechanized Mining. The mineral is lying on the surface therefore open cast mining has been the obvious choice. Salient features of Mode of Workings: The mining shall be started from the surface. The direction of advance shall be in all directions. Topsoil shall be removed initially & stack separately. The Bench Parameters shall be 1. Height 5 m 2. Width - More than 5 m The 3m benches shall be prepared in two slice Height 1.5m Overall Slope - 45 0 6

Gradient of the Haul Road: - 1 in 16 (ramps) Width of the approach road- 3m Transportation of Minerals The mineral produced from the pit shall be first brought at a spot outside the pit by Mechanical Loader, for sorting at stack yard. The mineral is first sorted out manually to remove the impurities associated with it. The sorted mineral is then carried to temporary stack yard & then further loaded for its onward transportation by trucks to the factories in Ajmer & other parts of the state. Drilling: The drilling will be done with the help of compressor and jack hammer. In this mine the diameter of the hole will be 32 mm and depth of the hole will be kept at 1.6 mm in a single hole. Blasting: The Blasting shall be done by the authorized contractors on contractual Basis. These contractors have their own safety explosive container as well as Explosive License. Loading of Quartz & Feldspar will be done with the help of Excavator. The truck will be used for transportation of minerals from the mine site to destination. 3.7 Resource Optimization/ Recycling and Reuse Only water will be used as resource optimization /recycling at mine site. 7

3.8 Availability of Water Its Source, Energy/ Power Requirement and Source 3.8.1 Water Requirement Total water requirement is about 2.3 KLD = 0.5 KLD (Drinking & Domestic Uses) + 1.0 KLD (Plantation) + 0.8 KLD (Dust Suppression). 3.8.2 Power The operation will be done in day time only hence there is no power requirement for the project at site. The electricity line passes out side near the village. The electricity facility is not available at mining lease area. Only diesel equipment will be used. 3.9 Quantity of wastes to be generated (Liquid and solid) and Scheme for their Management/Disposal 3.9.1 Nature of Waste The waste rocks (Granite Gneiss and Mica Schist) found in the area is overburden over the Mineral bed & line rejects of sorting of intergrowth of soil with Quartz & Feldspar. Proposed Waste to be generation in five years is as follows: Year Feldspathic Waste 30% (Tones) I 5928 II 6864 III 7761 IV 9867 V 10784 Total 41204 3.9.2 Dumping Site The selection of land for waste disposal is non mineralized area. The dumping is not comes in the ultimate pit limit in future, ultimate quantity of waste will be start to simultaneously backfilled in the pits. The dumping of waste will be done in systematic manner. The proposed waste dump will be on non mineralized area having dump configuration as 55 m x 50 m x 4-7-8 m. 3.9.3 Liquid Effluent Not applicable 4. SITE ANALYSIS 4.1 Connectivity The mining lease area is located near village Ashapura, Tehsil Nasirabad, District Ajmer and State Rajasthan. The applied lease area is approachable by road north east of village Ashapura about 1 Km. Nasirabad Railway Station is about 8 km in SW direction and Jaipur Airport Udaipur is about 8

114 km in NE direction from lease area. NH 79A is about 4 Km in West direction. 4.2 Landform, Land use and Land ownership 4.2.1 Landform The applied area is characterized by the typical topography possess flat land and undulating topography. The soil available in the area overlying on the mineral is not good for farming/cultivation. There are some bushes & trees exist in the lease area. 4.2.2 Land use The applied lease area is a waste land 4.875 ha. The area does not fall in forest land. There is a no human settlement is there in the lease area. Permanent vegetation in the area is also less prominent. 4.2.3 Land Ownership The proposed lease area is 4.875 ha is Government waste land. 4.3 Topography Topographically the applied area is undulating land. The area falls in Toposheet No. 45 J/15. Area is mainly consists of Quartz & Feldspar. 4.4 Existing land Use Pattern The lease area is flat land. The area does not fall in forest land. There is a village Ashapura with hutments and human settlement is there in the lease area. 4.5 Existing Infrastructure There is no existing infrastructure facility is available in the area but in the first five years as per the approved mining plan for effective and proper working of the mine, it has been proposed to construct and provide site services like office, first aid, rest shelter; urinals etc. as per the statutory requirements. 4.6 Soil Classification Soils of the district are classified as follows: Clay loam or medium black: This type of soil is found in the hilly areas in the central parts of the district. Loam: This type of soil is found in the entire district. Sand and sandy loam: This type of soil is found mostly near the banks of rivers and nallahs. Loam pebbly & stony: These types of soils are met within the hilly areas of the eastern blocks of the district. (Source: - District Groundwater Brochure, 2008, Central Ground Water Board, Ajmer, Rajasthan). 4.7 Climate Data from Secondary Sources Climate & Rainfall: Mean annual rainfall (1986-2005) of the district is 633.9 mm whereas normal rainfall (1901-70) is lower than average rainfall and placed at 603.3. Almost 95% of the total annual rainfall is received 9

during the southwest monsoon, which enters the district in the last week of June and withdraws in the middle of September. Probability of average annual rainfall exceeding 900 mm is only 10%. However, there is 90% probability that the average rainfall will be more than 400 mm. The probability of occurrence of mean annual rainfall is 45%. Drought analysis based on agriculture criteria indicates that the district is prone to mild and normal type of droughts. Occurrence of severe and very severe type of drought is very rare. January is the coldest month with mean maximum and minimum temperatures being lowest at 22.2 0 C & 7.3 0 C. Temperature in summer month, June, reaches up to 46 0 C. There is drop in temperature due to onset of monsoon and rises again in the month of September. Atmosphere is generally dry except during the monsoon period. The humidity is highest in August with mean daily relative humidity 80%. The annual potential evapotranspiration in the district is 1495 mm and is the highest in the month of May (228 mm). (Source: - District Groundwater Brochure, 2008, Central Ground Water Board, Ajmer, Rajasthan). 4.8 Social Infrastructure available: The Applied lease area falls southeast of village Ashapura about 1.0 Km. The village Ashapura is connected by road and is about 6 Km from Tehsil- Nasirabad. The Ground water table is 30-35 m the drinking water can be brought from the nearby wells. The nearest Post & Telegraph Office is at Nasirabad. Nearest Hospital is at village Nasirabad. Applicable police station is at Nasirabad. Education Facility is available at Nasirabad. 5 PLANNING BRIEF 5.1 Planning Concept Method: The applied mine shall be developed by opencast Semi-Mechanized Mining. The mineral is lying on the surface therefore open cast mining has been the obvious choice. Salient features of Mode of Workings: The mining shall be started from the surface. The direction of advance shall be in all directions. Topsoil shall be removed initially & stack separately. The Bench Parameters shall be 1. Height 5 m 2. Width - More than 5 m The 3m benches shall be prepared in two slice Height 1.5 m Overall Slope - 45 0 Gradient of the Haul Road: - 1 in 16 (ramps) 10

Width of the approach road- 3m Transportation of Minerals The mineral produced from the pit shall be first brought at a spot outside the pit by Mechanical Loader, for sorting at stack yard. The mineral is first sorted out manually to remove the impurities associated with it. The sorted mineral is then carried to temporary stack yard & then further loaded for its onward transportation by trucks to the factories in Ajmer & other parts of the state. Drilling: The drilling will be done with the help of compressor and jack hammer. In this mine the diameter of the hole will be 32 mm and depth of the hole will be kept at 1.6 mm in a single hole. Blasting: The Blasting shall be done by the authorized contractors on contractual Basis. These contractors have their own safety explosive container as well as Explosive License. 5.2 Land use Planning At the end of the mining operation, a part shall be back filled and remaining part of the lease area would be used for greenbelt development. The backfilled and non-utilized area would be used for a forestation after spreading topsoil over it. The local people would use the buildings and roads for their infrastructure facilities. 5.3 Assessment of Infrastructure demand (Physical & Social) On the basis of the preliminary site visit, the infrastructure demand in the village was assessed on the basis of need and priority. Physical Infrastructure The road facility is already available which shall be used and maintained. Other infrastructure facilities required such as transport etc. for mine labors is available by way of jeep, two wheelers etc. Medical facility is available in the nearby village Ashapura. Social Infrastructure An occupational health unit will be organized and the proposed measures will be adopted: 1. Periodical Medical Checkup program for all the workers and first-aid box with necessary equipment will be provided. 5.4 Amenities/Facilities In the next five years as per the approved mining plan, it has been proposed to construct and provide Site services like office, first aid, rest shelter, urinals and maintenance workshops etc. as per the statutory requirements. As the mine lease area is 4.875 Ha, so plantation would be around 1.608 Ha. It is proposed to plant 1600 plant/ha i.e. about 2573 plants will be planted in the lease area. For the plantation work the project proponent is committed to plantation and may consult to the Gram Panchayat. Place of proposed plantation: - The plantation shall be done at the following places:- At the boundary of the Lease. Both sides of the transportation route. Species for Plantation Babul, Neem, Shisham, Rohira, Kalsi Dhangood, Akara etc, more species will be introduced for plantation after consultation with the local village authority. 6.4 Social Infrastructure The applicant shall spend a part of the profit for the development of the area i.e. in the treatment of poor, schools, temples and other social work. Budget allocated for ESR will be rupees 40,000/- annually. 6.5 Drinking Water Management The required water for drinking and domestic purpose is required to be 0.5 KLD. Drinking water will be provided by the water tanker. 12

6.6 Sewerage System Domestic waste water will be treated into septic tank followed by soak pit. 6.7 Industrial Waste Management: Not applicable 6.8 Solid Waste management The waste rocks (Granite Gneiss and Mica Schist) found in the area is overburden over the Mineral bed & line rejects of sorting of intergrowth of soil with Quartz & Feldspar. 6.9 Power Requirement & Supply/Source The operation will be done only in day time hence there is no power requirement for the project at site. The electricity is not available at mining lease area. Only diesel equipment will be used. 6.10 Environment Management Plan Budget allocated for EMP S. REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R&R) PLAN As no personnel are expected to be migrated due to mining in the lease area and the adjoining region is also having a good mineral potential, the rehabilitation of the employees is not going to be a problem. The workers and other staff can get job in the neighboring areas after the end of life of mine. 8 PROJECT SCHEDULE & COST ESTIMATES 8.1 Likely Date of Start of Construction and Likely Date of Completion No construction activities are proposed. The mining activity will commence only after receiving environmental clearance and other statutory clearance. 8.2 Estimated Project Cost Along With Analysis In Terms of Economic Viability of the Project Estimated project cost is Rs. 60 Lakhs. The lessee has all the mining equipments required for the scientific mining. The mine will be Eco-Friendly. Economically the ore is mineable as compared to overburden thickness. 9.0 ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS) The proposed mine will bring economical benefits to the state by the way of Royalty for mineral and to the local people by way of direct and secondary employment opportunities Quartz & 13

Feldspar are used in various forms in various industries to manufacture various products. Quartz shall be used in ceramics, glass manufacturing, ferrosilicon, induction furnaces lining, and electric lining industries and in paints. The material is in high demand at the local market for manufacturing industry. The project will bring about socio-economic improvement of the area and will prove beneficial to the area. This project operation will provide livelihood to the poorest section of the society/economically backward population and tribal in the area. It provides employment to the people residing in vicinity directly or indirectly. ***************** 14
