6 7035 BUTLER TWP PD MONTGOMERY DIXIE Upon arrival at the scene, I made contact with the driver of unit 2, Madison Devlin. She told me she was driving southbound on North Dixie Drive behind other cars. She said that the car in front of her suddenly turned right onto Vanco Lane, with no notice, other than a late activation of their turn signal. She said she had to apply her brakes quickly and demonstrated a counter-steer to keep from hitting the car in front of her. She said as soon as she activated her brakes, she was struck from behind and started spinning, landing the the grass yard. I spoke with the driver of unit, Amber Tarzinski. She explained that she was not exactly sure what happened, but said she had listened to other people at the scene, and had heard 3 different versions of events. She told me that she "Thought" unit had pulled out in front of her from Vanco Lane. She said she based this on what some other people at the scene had said. It should be noted that both drivers were shaken from the crash and had been checked by medics. They refused treatment and both said they were sore and just had a few scratches. It should also be noted I spoke to several bystanders and all said they did not see what had happened, only stopped after they saw the cars crashed on the side of the road. In examining the skid marks on the roadway, it was obvious to me that the crash had occurred before the intersection. There was a gouge mark on the roadway, in the south bound lane, that measured 26.8 feet north of the edge of Vanco Lane. This proves unit could not have been turning from Vanco Lane and the point of impact occurred no less than 26.8 feet north of the intersection. I was able to obtain a copy of surveillance video from R.B. Jergens, 8 North Dixie Drive, which is the owner of the property the vehicles came to final rest on. The video shows traffic on North Dixie Drive at Vanco, however, it is obstructed by trees. I can see and hear the crash occur and can see a vehicle turning on Vanco Lane, then unit and 2 sliding through and past the turning vehicle after the crash.
