31 Summary Ratio asymptotic results are well understood on the unit circle and real line in terms of the recursion coefficients for the orthonormal polynomials. Using some new techniques, we can prove analogous results when no such recursion relation exists. These techniques also yield results about the stability of he orthonormal polynomials under certain perturbations of the measure.
