He was described as helpful when students had questions and seemed to genuinely care about the progress and development at all in his class. Harris Enr: 47 Resp: 29 Retake: 66% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Harris was described as a passionate instructor who enjoyed the class with her enthusiasm. Several students felt, however, that there was a lack of clear assignment expectations and a disparity between lecture content and argued readings. The course load - while enjoyable - was a little excessive for a half-credit course but overall was well received by students. SMC 201H1S Christianity and Literature Instructor(s): A. SMC 203Y1Y Christianity Encounters the Secular World Instructor(s): J. Pagliaroli Enr: 52 Resp: 25 Retake: 75% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Pagliaroli was described as friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. SMC 204H1F Christianity and Asia Instructor(s): T. Fay Enr: 14 Resp: 11 Retake: 100% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Fay was lauded as a knowledgeable instructor who taught with much enthusiasm and who was accessible for students questions. Many students appreciated his helpful lecture powerpoints and his fast return rate of assignments and tests. All students seemed to enjoy the course and the readings.

He was readily available to answer student questions. Students felt that the course lacked a coherent structure. Silano assigned long readings the night before the lecture and failed to post lecture outlines and slides. SMC 211H1S The Middle Ages and the Movies Instructor(s): G. Dinkova-Bruun Enr: 60 Resp: 38 Retake: 52% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Students desired more feedback on assignments, and test expectations. They felt the instructor did not adequately communicate the requirements but they felt that the instructor was knowledgeable and well-versed in the subject matter. SMC 216Y1Y Ritual and Worship Instructor(s): M. O'Connor Enr: 48 Resp: 37 Retake: 75% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Students felt that O'Connor was available to help, had a genuine interest in the well-being of students, and displayed excellent knowledge of the subject matter while communicating the material with enthusiasm. SMC 219Y1S Mass Media in Culture and Society Instructor(s): F. Guardiani Enr: 215 Resp: 69 Retake: 54% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Students felt that Guardiani was not an authority on the topics covered and had problems with organization and punctuality. Students felt he read too much without contributing anything additional to the lectures. Students felt he displayed some interest in the course material. SMC 222H1S Medieval Latin I Instructor(s): A. Andree Enr: 13 Resp: 6 Retake: 80% Presents Explains Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp SMC 228H1F Elements of Material Bibliography and Print Culture Instructor(s): L. Eckert Enr: 146 Resp: 84 Retake: 80% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp Eckert was described as a brilliant instructor who made the dense course material fun and engaging. Students iterated how enthusiastic she was in her approach. A few students did feel that the instructor's grading standards were vague, that a discrepancy between the required and recommended readings existed, and that Eckert sometimes spoke too fast. Many also felt that the coursework was a bit to excessive for a half-year course. In all, almost all students described this course as their all-time U of T - favourite and would encourage a friend to take the class. SMC 305H1S Christianity and Popular Culture Instructor(s): J. Harris Enr: 157 Resp: 93 Retake: 64% Presents Explains Communicates Teaching Workload Difficulty Learn Exp The grading was very unfair and expectations of assignments were not outlined clearly enough and students wanted more feedback.
