1 GENERAL WP-BAILEY CHAINS rxiv: v1 [mth.nt] 5 J 2019 JAMES MC LAUGHLIN AND PETER ZIMMER Abstrct. Motivted by recet pper of Liu d M we describe umber of geerl WP-Biley chis. We show tht my of the existig WP-Biley chis or brches of the WP-Biley tree icludig chis foud by Adrews Wrr d Liu d M rise s specil cses of these geerl WP-Biley chis. We exhibit three ew brches of the WP-Biley tree brches which lso follow s specil cses of these geerl WP-Biley chis. Filly we describe umber of ew trsformtio formule for bsic hypergeometric series which rise s coseueces of these ew WP-Biley chis. 1. Itroductio Adrews [1] followig o from prior wor of Bressoud [4] d Sigh [9] defied WP-Biley pir to be pir of seueces α β if the cotext is cler we occsiolly suppress the depedece o d write α β stisfyig 1.1 β / + + α / α 1 / +1. Adrews lso showed i [1] tht there were two distict wys to costruct ew WP-Biley pirs from give pir see 2.6 d 2.7 below. These two costructios llowed tree of WP-Biley pirs to be geerted from sigle WP-Biley pir. Adrews d Berovich [2] further ivestigted these two brches of the WP-Biley tree i the process derivig my ew trsformtios for bsic hypergeometric series. Spiridoov [10] derived elliptic geerliztio of Adrews first WP-Biley chi d Wrr [11] dded four ew brches to the WP-Biley tree see d 3.11 below two of which hd geerliztios to the elliptic level. More recetly d motivted i prt by the ppers bove Liu d M [7] Dte: Jury Mthemtics Subect Clssifictio. Primry: 33D15. Secodry:11B65 05A19. Key words d phrses. Biley chis WP-Biley Chis WP-Biley pirs. 1
2 2 JAMES MC LAUGHLIN AND PETER ZIMMER itroduced the ide of geerl WP-Biley chi s solutio to system of lier eutios d dded oe ew brch to the WP-Biley tree see 2.9 below. Motivted by Liu d M s cocept of geerl WP-Biley pir i the preset pper we reformulte their costructio i terms of the more stdrd ottio d lso derive three other geerl WP-Biley chis. We show tht ll the WP-Biley chis referred to bove rise s specil cses of these geerl chis. We further derive three ew WP-Biley chis from these geerl chis. Lstly we fid my ew trsformtios of bsic hypergeometric series by isertig ow WP-Biley pirs ito these three ew WP-Biley chis. 2. The Geerl WP-Biley Chi of Liu d M Liu d M [7] defied WP-Biley chi s follows: Defiitio 1. Before proceedig to this we first recll the followig ecessry result of Wrr.
