4 Tasks we are focusing on Motivations Field of investigation First step of a comprehensive evaluation of -D air quality modeling system NINFA/AODEM over Northern Italy Prediction of particulate matter concentrations and aerosol optical properties are compared with both ground-based and satellite measurements Basic statistics are calculated for pointing out model s strength and weakness 8 March, Air Quality Conference, Garmisch P. 5 Experiment n. : Relax Flux - RF The modeling system NINFA/AODEM NINFA is based on the chemical transport model CHIMERE (Bessagnet et al., 8) driven by COSMO-I, the meteorological Italian Limited Area Model, (Steppeler et al., ) boundary conditions are provided by Prev air data ( emission input data are based on regional (INEMAR), national (ISPRA) and european inventory (MACC) 8 March, Air Quality Conference, Garmisch P. 20 Outcomes Outlook We are still working on NINFA/AODEM evaluation by using measurements of size-segregated aerosol samples, number particles concentration and aerosol optical properties collected on hourly or daily basis at sites in urban areas (Bologna, Parma and Rimini), in rural area (San Pietro Capofiume) and in remote area (Monte Cimone) Analysis of acute pollution episodes over Northern Italy during (Presentation n. 99 given on Wednesday by G.
