Hubble Red Shift and the Anomalous Aeleration of Pioneer 0 and arxiv:gr-q/ v2 6 Feb 2004 Kostadin Trenčevski Faulty of Natural Sienes and Mathematis, P.O.Box 62, 000 Skopje, Maedonia Abstrat It this paper is onsidered the relationship a P = H [], between the Hubble onstant H and the anomalous aeleration a P whih appears in the motion of the spaeraft Pioneer 0 and. Aording to this equality both Hubble red shift from the other galaxies and the anomalous aeleration a P an be explained assuming that the gravitational potential in the universe hanges linearly: V = 2 H t. It an be interpreted that after eah seond the time is faster + times, all spae distanes are 7 larger for the same oeffiient, all masses are larger for the same oeffiient and all veloities are larger + 2 times. Thus, the veloities of 7 the galaxies are not so large as it was thought until now, beause the red shift is mainly aused by the hange of the potential, while the Doppler effet has a minor role. The explanation of the anomalous aeleration a P is similar. The gravitational potential V is onsidered as fifth dimension. Introdution Hubble in 928 has disovered that the veloities of the galaxies with respet to the Earth are proportional to the orresponding distanes from the Earth. Namely, if v is the veloity of a hosen star, and R is its distane from the Earth, then v = RH, where H is an universal onstant alled Hubble onstant. Some reent measurements show that H is about 70km/s/mp, i.e. H years. As a onsequene it is aepted that about H = 4 09 years ago, after the Big Bang the universe is expanding. The veloities among the galaxies whih are supposed now are sometimes bigger than /3. These veloities are measured using the Doppler effet. kostatre@iunona.pmf.ukim.edu.mk
2 Main results In this paper is given a new explanation of the previously presented Hubble law. Indeed, we will show now that suh enormous veloities are only apparent beause of the red shift, and the red shift appears aording to additional gravitational potential V in the universe whih hanges linearly or almost linearly with the time, i.e. V t onst. Indeed, the astronomers deteted red shift suh that ν = ν 0 v, and replaing v = HR, indeed it is observed that ν = ν 0 RH. On the other hand, if the potential hanges linearly with the time, after time t = R/ we have additional potential R V t, and hene we have a red shift suh that ν = ν 0 + R V 2. 2 t Comparing the formulas and 2 we obtain H = 2 V t. 3 Remark. Note that the gravitational potential V is onsidered to be bigger near gravitational bodies ompared with the potential where there is no gravitation. For example, near the spherial body we aept that V = GM r. If we aept that V = GM r, then the sign + in the formula 2 should be replaed by -. Sine V t < 0, in the past the time in the universe was slower than now, and in future it will be faster than now. Indeed, eah seond the time is faster approximately + times. 7 On the other hand, in the last 5 years are onsidered the motions of the spaeraft Pioneer 0 and, by omparing the initial frequeny of a signal whih is sent from the Earth to the spaeraft and the frequeny of the signal whih omes bak. The frequeny of the reeived signal on the Earth does not fit with the predited frequeny modeled by using the Doppler effet, the position and motion of the spaeraft using the general relativity and a lot of perturbations whih appear []. In the ase of the spaeraft Pioneer 0 and we have a similar situation like with the red shift from the galaxies. The observations show that appears almost a onstant apparent unmodeled aeleration a P whih seems to at to the spaeraft toward the Sun. Aording to the formula 5 in [], i.e. 2a P t [ [ν obs t ν model t] DSN = ν 0, where ν model = ν 0 2 v modelt ], 4 2
after time 2t has been deteted a small blue shift on the top of the red shift aused by the motion of the spaeraft outwards the Sun. Indeed, an unexplained blue shift of the reeived frequeny is deteted, suh that ν = ν 0 + 2a Pt, 5 where 2t is the time of the signal in two diretions: from the Earth to the spaeraft and bak. In [] it is mentioned that without using the aeleration a P, the anomalous frequeny shift an be explained by onsidering lok aeleration a t = 2, s/s 2. This indues just the blue shift given by 5. Although a P indues a slight blue shift, we shall write 5 in form ν = ν 0 2a Pt like it is a red shift, and the reason will be explained later. Comparing the formulas 2 and 5, we get a P = Finally, omparing 3 and 6 we obtain 5 V t. 6 a P = H. 7 If we aept the value of the Hubble onstant H years, aording to 7 we get 8 m a P 6, 8 0 s 2. 8 Note that the equality 7 was previously found by many authors []. Although this value of a P is not idential with the observed values whih are about 8 0 8m s, this result onfirms the hypothesis presented at the beginning. 2 Indeed, the Hubble onstant H is measured with auray of about ±0%, and also a P ontains some soures of systemati error []. Moreover, the formula 2 is written assuming that the onsidered galaxy does not move with respet to the Earth, or its veloity is negligible. Aording to 3 we obtain that V t 2 03m2 s 3. 9 This shows that the potential energy of mass of kg arises for kg m 2 s 2 = 0, 2J per seond and it is not negligible. Thus, aording to the given explanation of the Hubble red shift, the veloities among the galaxies are not so large as it was thought until now. It is not 3
known whether V t is an universal onstant, or it is proportional to T, where T is the age of the universe. Now, let us return to explain why we replaed the formula 5 with 5. If we write the metri aording to the General Relativity [4] as g ij = + 2V 2V V V V 2 0 and aording to 3 use that the additional potential from the universe is V H 2 t, we make a revision of the metri 0 by adding diag 2Ht, 2Ht, 2Ht, 2Ht, for th <<. Here we neglet the expressions of form H 2 / 4 and V H/ 4. It is easy to see that the revised metri yields to an additional 3-aeleration 2H dx dy dz, 2H, 2H. dt dt dt The modeling of the veloity v model in 4 is done without using the aeleration outwards the Sun, and it is easy to revise it. For the sake of simpliity we assume that the spaeraft is moving radially in the solar system outwards the Sun, and also assume that far from the Sun when it is on distane R, its Newtonian aeleration is approximately a onstant aeleration equal to a, i.e. a towards the Sun. When it is on distane R, for t = 0, assume that its veloity is v 0. Without loss of generality we an deal aording to the Newton theory, when it is possible. Let us alulate ν ν 0 = ν obs ν 0 /ν 0 in two different ways: I. Assume that the time is permanently negatively aelerated whih indues the blue shift 5, without using the anomalous aeleration a P. By adding the aeleration to a, we have the following aeleration a + 2Hv a + 2Hv 0, and obtain ν ν 0 I = 2H R + v 0t + 2 a + 2Hv 0t 2 2 v 0 + a + 2Hv 0 t. II. Using that the time is permanently positively aelerated, whih indues the red shift 5 analogous to the Hubble red shift, without using the aeleration a P, we obtain ν ν = 2H R + v 0t 2 at2 0 II 2 v 0 at. It is easy to see that negleting the expressions of type t 2 we get d ν dt ν 0 I = d ν dt ν, i.e. dν I 0 II dt = dν II dt, 4
whih explains the reason that we replaed 5 with 5. Now, aording to the modified metri we note that not only the time hanges permanently, but also all distanes inrease permanently + times eah 7 seond and the veloities inrease + 2 times eah seond. Moreover, 7 the mass inreases + times eah seond and the gravitational onstant 7 G inreases + 4 times eah seond, suh that the potential GM 7 r remains 2 unhanged. Note also that v model is determined aording to General Relativity, and if it is ideally exat, then a P should be a onstant equal to H. Sine, a P is deteted to be almost onstant, there is a slight departure from the General Relativity. The hange of the metri auses slight hanges in the results of the known experiments about General Relativity, but they are negligible. The hange of the results in the test of Shapiro time delay is negligible if we onsider radio signals on short distanes like in the solar system. The hange of the defletion of the light rays near the Sun is ompletely negligible up to 2. The angle 2ρ between two perihelions is hanged additionally of order ρ ρ 2 TH2 w, where w is the angular veloity at the perihelion and T is the period of the planet. This hange of the angle is negligible with respet to the measured angle 3 Gravitational potential as fifth dimension 6GMπ a 2 ǫ 2. Sine the potential hanges permanently, we assume that it is the fifth dimension. This idea of the fifth dimension is popular [3,5,6,7] and usually the fifth dimension is proportional to the hange of mass. Aording to the setion 2, the following question appears: Thus the onstants H and a P are preserved, if we use another oordinate system whih moves with large veloity with respet to the former one? We shall assume that these two values depend on the hoie of the oordinate system. In this ase it is natural to assume that there exists a speial oordinate system, whih will be alled absolute and whih is probably in rest with respet to the universe. Let us denote its oordinates by X,Y,Z,T and assume temporary that in this oordinate system a P is given by 8 and the Hubble onstant is H = a P / years. Thus, in this ase we have 2 dt 2 dv 2 H 2 2 = 0, and hene the square of the line element ds 2 = dx 2 + dy 2 + dz 2 2 dt 2 + H 2 2 dv 2 2 means that ds 2 = dx 2 +dy 2 +dz 2. The potential V is a salar funtion whih does not depend on the oordinate system. For any other oordinate system 5
different from the absolute system, analogously to 2 we an put ds 2 = dx 2 + dy 2 + dz 2 2 dt 2 + H 2 2 dv 2. 3 Sine ds 2 and H 2 2 dv 2 are invariant, we have dx 2 + dy 2 + dz 2 2 dt 2 = dx 2 + dy 2 + dz 2 2 dt 2 whih is in aordane with the STR. We assume that the gravitational effets are small and thus we neglet them now. Assume that in the oordinate system x,y,z,t the Hubble onstant is measured to he h. Aording to 3 we have and hene dv dt = h2 and dv dt = H2 h = H dt dt. 4 Assuming that dt dt we obtain h H. Thus, also a P in this system is dt dt times larger than a P measured in the absolute system. We an find the absolute system by measuring the values of a P in eah oordinate system like in []. That system where a P takes its maximal value, is mutually in rest with respet to the absolute system X,Y,Z,T. Hene we are able theoretially to find the veloity of the Earth with respet to the absolute oordinate system. The Hubble onstant in different systems is not onvenient for finding the smallest possible value H of h, beause we assumed in setion 2 that the galaxies are moving with not so large veloities and we are not able to distinguish the red shift aused from the Doppler effet and the red shift aused by the hange of the potential. At the end of this setion, after many assumptions, we an onlude that the potential V is an invariant salar funtion whih is an universal lok in the universe. Aording to the Newton s theory the motion is invariant under the gauge transformation V V + C. Thus, it is onvenient to onsider the gravitational potential V as a fifth dimension. The element ds is just the spae distane in the absolute system. Referenes [] J.D. Anderson et al., Study of anomalous aeleration of Pioneer 0 and, Phys. Rev. D 65, [2] J.D. Anderson et al., Phys.
