2 VI \. n your reply pieuse quote No. Q Q Y. i OFFICE O F THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR JERSEY 23rd August, I / I refer to your letter CIH 234/2/4 5.'da t ed 16th August, 1965, about the cl aim for compensation for Nazi persecution made by Mr. William John TV indebank, who was born in Alderney on September 26th, It was the practice of the Court of Field Command 515 of the German Occupying Forces in Jersey to notify *. the Attorney General of sentences imposed by it on members of the local population, and I enclose photostat copies of the notification from the German Court in respect of Mr. Windebank., There is no record of Mr. Windebank having served his sentence in the Jersey Prison, and it can be assumed that he was in fact taken away from the Island by the Germans. As to the manner in which Mr. Windebank was t whilst away from the Island, I regret that I air. ur.abi throw any light on this aspect of the matter as no ir. is available in this respect.
