2 Dear Colleagues, It is our sincere pleasure to welcome you to the 2017 European Semiconductor Laser Workshop (ESLW) at the DTU campus in Kgs. Lyngby in Denmark. The workshop is jointly organized by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), and precedes the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) in Gothenburg, Sweden. The workshop aims at providing an informal discussion forum on exchanging most recent research results and achievements in the field of semiconductor lasers, related devices and technology. We are looking forward to many interesting talks at the workshop that we hope you will find inspiring. The workshop will give you a great opportunity to find new collaborating partners as well as strengthen your existing friendships. We encourage you to make use of the breaks and the workshop dinner to share knowledge, exchange ideas and explore new opportunities to push the frontiers of semiconductor laser research. We are looking forward to your participation and the vivid and fruitful discussions at the workshop! With warmest regards, Organizing committee of ESLW 2017 Il-Sug Chung Åsa Haglund Johan Gustavsson Technical University of Denmark Chalmers University of Technology Chalmers University of Technology Denmark Sweden Sweden Scientific committee of ESLW 2017 Massimo Brambilla (Università degli Studi e Politecnico di Bari, Italy) Stefan Breuer (Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany) Il-Sug Chung (Technical University of Denmark, Denmark) Lorenzo Columbo (Politecnico di Torino, Italy) Ignacio Esquivias (Universitad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain) Åsa Haglund (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden) Julien Javaloyes (Universitat de les Illes Balears, Spain) Eli Kapon (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland) Eric Larkins (University of Nottingham, UK) Rainer Michalzik (Ulm University, Germany) Peter Smowton (Cardiff University, UK) Eric Tournié (University of Montpellier II, France)
