12 POLYETHYLENE BEADS PERLITE BEADS ImerCare P-Scrub is a natural perlite range of products developed as an environmentally-friendly alternative to PE beads for face and body scrubs. VS Due to the negative impact of polyethylene beads on marine life and the environment, cosmetics producers are seeking to replace them in scrub applications. 12
13 PERLITE : A NATURAL VOLCANIC ROCK ImerCare P-Scrub perlite combines the hardness of volcanic rock with the softness of spherical particles for a gentle exfoliation effect. ImerCare P-Scrub range is produced using patented technology. 13
14 MECHANICAL AND THERMAL PROCESS ONLY Perlite is made from a volcanic glass which contains water in its inner structure. When heated, the water trapped within the structure is vaporised, causing the material to expand and form a bubble structure. 15 IMERCARE P-SCRUB: AN ECO-FRIENDLY INGREDIENT Unlike plastic microbeads which slip through water filter systems polluting streams and rivers, natural ImerCare perlite beads float and can be easily skimmed off. As a natural volcanic rock, any perlite beads that do slip through are harmless to marine life. 15
16 IMERCARE P-SCRUB VERSUS PLASTIC MICROBEADS PERFORMANCE Given the difference in apparent density between ImerCare P-Scrub ( 0.6) and plastic microbeads ( 1), for the same scrub intensity, the amount of ImerCare P- Scrub required in the formulation can be halved compared to plastic microbeads. 16
