Baturona Adimulya and the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources the Republic of Indonesian on 20 th November Almost all area of PKP2B concession has been probed or explored and the area identified as possessing coal deposit are Block Keluang, Block Muara Teladan and Block Lais. Block Keluang is situated at a strategic location for it is only ± 45 Km to Dawas River. Which is one of the alternative Loading Ports. In Block Keluang area, detailed exploration activities had been conducted to continue the realization of the Production activities carried out at this present. The local market for keluang coal is mostly to fulfill the demand for coal for industrial activities and near future Mine Mouth Power Plant which will be located in South Sumatera region, while the overseas market, countries like India, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia are using coal similar to Keluang Coal. 4 EXPLORATION Based on the exploration result, coal deposits are found in three blocks, Keluang, Lais, and Muara Teladan. The Company has completed geological and topographical mapping almost the three areas at the scales of 1 : 10,000 and 1 : 5,000. Core drillings and sample analysis have also been conducted. 178 drilling holes with a total depth of 11,725 meter have been made during the exploration period using three units of XY2B drilling machine and a unit of portable rig. The exploration result show that the Keluang block has indicated and inferred coal reserves totaling 32.2 million tons, while the North Lais and Muara Teladan blocks have indicated and inferred reserves up to 22.3 million tons and 46.1 millions ton respectively. Map produced upon the termination of the exploration stage: Outcrop and Observation Line Map, Topographical Map, Geological Map, Coal Reserve Calculation Map, Land Use Map, Coal Seam Correlation map, Structure Contour Map and Overburden Map. FESIBILITY STUDY Started in September 2005, the Trial Mining has been carried out, planed for three districts ( Keluang, Muara Teladan, and Lais) Covering app. 10,701 Ha. According to the Decree No. 133/40/DPM/2005 dated January 17 th 2005, PT BATURONA ADIMULYA has already secured the license to carryout Bulk Sampling at one of the prospective blocks, named Supat Blocks. Detailed research show that the prospective area categorized as mine able area, covers app ±30 Ha. Topography mapping with 1 : 2,000 of detailed scale had been carried out and also Full Coring Drilling Development resulting 1, meters of total depth and meters for Open Hole Drilling. The Quality of the coal was analyzed at the coal chemistry laboratory of the Directorate of Mineral Resources, Bandung. In addition by aforesaid government institution, another analysis has also been done by PT. Sucofindo. 6 The Concession area is located approximately 120 Km to West of Palembang city. Local Government has already developed road networks for the rural inhabitants and hard ground road in the transmigration area. Proximate Alternative Transportation Line There are unpaved road networks in the concession area that connect the concession area to places which can be used as alternative for loading ports. Northern Transportation Route : Paved road from concession area Keluang to Loading Port Sungai Dawas, Kecamatan Sungai Lilin, Approximately 45 Km. River transportation from Sungai Dawas to Coal Terminal Tanjung Api-api, through Calik river, approximately 90 Km. From Sungai Dawas to Bangka strait, approximately 100 miles. Barge Capacity up to 5000 tones. Southern Transportation Route : Unpaved transmigration road from Keluang to loading Port Petaling, approximately 25 Km. Transportation through Musi River from Petaling to coal terminal Kertapati (Palembang), approximately 114 miles. Barge capacity along Musi River is about is about 5000 tons. From Petaling straight to Coal Terminal Tanjung Api-api, approximately 170 miles. Barge capacity from Kertapati to Tanjung Api-api is about 6000 tons. To access the accessibility and infrastructure, study had been done by Coal Directorate and IEJJ (The Institute of Energy Economics Japan) within the scope of Integrated Study on Coal Transportation System in the Southern Part of Sumatera (Around Musi River) project. Principal objective of this study is to co-ordinate the whole transportation road of the PKP2B concession in South Sumatera including studying Coal Port location plan at Tanjung Api-api. Prospective Keluang blocks has been identified as the most possible location for the mining due to its strategic location.
