Quantifying changes in thermohaline structure with reference to frontal meandering, with special focus on region south of ACC front;
5 2. Computation of annual upper-ocean heat and salt content in the coastal Antarctica by using expendable probe data and ARGO-based profiles; 3. Water mass distribution and their mixing characteristics with reference to melt water from Antarctic glaciers; 4. Construction of empirical models of upper-ocean temperature and dynamic topography from satellite altimeter data to infer baroclinic transports. 5. Monitoring of geostrophic circulation and transport and its temporal variation across the chokepoint between Africa and Antarctica Satellite-based DEM for monitoring Antarctic ice topography, with special focus on- A] Applications of high resolution Cartosat -1/2 and RISAT-1 satellite remote sensing data for Extraction of Polar Spatial Information and DEM of Schirmacher Oasis Hills, East Antarctica B] Synergistic use of Imaging SAR, GLAS/ICESat and Ground survey (GPS) data to produce an accurate DEM of the Schirmacher Oasis and India Bay Larsemann Hills & Schirmacher Oasis Dr. Alvarinho J. Luis/NCAOR, Goa 1. Generation of highly accurate DEM of Schirmacher Oasis near Maitri by using precise SAR, ICESat/ GLAS and ASTER GDEM 2. To quantify and study the trends in elevation changes from 2003 to 2005, i.e, height variation detection at Schirmacher Oasis from ICESat altimetry. 3. To compare and quantify the change in elevation values of ICESat based DEM with topographic DEM of year 1992 and To compare the resulting accurate DEM with ground survey based DEM of the year 2007 and GPS elevation observations values of the year To validate existing conventional DEM models

Understand the limnology and paleoclimatic history recorded in lake sediments. Geochemical and petrological studies of the lamprophyres from Schirmacher Oasis and Centarl Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica and their correlation with the Indian lamprophyres in relation to pan-african orogeny Maitri Kirtikumar R. Randive/Nagpur University, Nagpur To establish the nature and type pf lamprophyre magmas and their categorization in calc-alkaline, alkaline and ultramafic types. To correlate the Lamprophyres from Antarctica and India in relation to Pan-African orogeny. To study mineralization potential of these lamprophyres with special emphasis on noble and rare metals such platinum group Elements (PGE), Rare Earth Elements (REE), Au-Ag, and other base metals. Recording and documenting various aspects of Antarctica, specifically Indian base station Maitri and the construction of the new Station Bharati at Larsemann hills and further using it to create awareness on the science at Antarctica and climate change by give a conservation message in schools, colleges and public in general Others
