3 INTRODUCTION Location Sola is located in the municipality of Polvijärvi, approx. 17km NE of the town of Outokumpu and approx. 8km S of the Kylylahti mine. The Sola SE1 & SE2 claim area is located approx. 3.5km SE of the Sola deposit. A few small nature conservation areas are located in the Sola area, but not within the Sola SE1 & SE2 area. Historical exploration The Sola mineralisation was discovered in 1957 and since then several companies have conducted extensive exploration work in the Sola area including diamond drilling and geophysical surveys, but without any major success. Geochemical investigations show that nickel and copper anomalies often correlate indicating Outokumpu-type quartz rock. On the other hand, wide nickel anomalies indicate serpentinite massifs or Outokumpu-type quartz rock. However, the geochemical survey did not give any hint of a distinct ore outcrop. Pyhäsalmi Mine Oy: Surface time domain electromagnetic surveys (DEEPEM), down hole EM surveys and diamond drilling. Geomex JV Drilling: Geophysical drill hole logging and ground surveys, geochemical drill core assays. Malmikaivos Oy: Detailed bedrock mapping, geophysical ground surveys (magnetic, slingram, reflection seismic investigation), bedrock sampling with percussion drill. No historical claim reports have been found from the Sola SE1 & SE2 area. Furthermore, no historical drilling or geophysical ground surveys have been conducted in the area. Geological summary The Sola serpentinite massif at the eastern flank of the Outokumpu structure consists of three major antigorite-serpentinite lenses. Geologically Sola is similar to the Kylylahti area, comprising a sizeable mass of antigorite serpentinite to talc-carbonate rocks, in two-three lens like bodies fringed by thin zones of Outokumpu type carbonate-skarn-quartz rocks and enclosed in meta-turbidite mica and black schists. The Sola deposit is located within carbonate skarn - quartz rock at the eastern edge of the Sola West intrusion. This intrusion is approx. 350m wide and can be traced along strike 1.8km. Carbonate-tremolite skarn and quartz rock alteration usually occurs at the edges of serpentinite lenses. Chloritized metabasite dykes are common both in serpentinites, skarn and quartz rocks. Drill profiles over the Sola complex indicate it would originate from a single sheet of serpentinite folded in relatively tight upright folds and then sheared to lenses along N-S trending nearly vertical fault planes, so that in its present surface pattern the complex is now divided in three separate lenses. A small semimassive sulphide concentration at ca. 0.1 Mt at 2 wt.% Cu, 1 wt.% Zn, 0.1 wt.% Co, 0.15 wt.% Ni and 17 wt.% S has been located within the relatively voluminous skarn-quartz rocks within the northern part of the westernmost of the main serpentinite lenses. 6 The westernmost of the Sola serpentinite-talc-carbonate lenses seems enveloped in a fairly continuous, a few meters to tens of meters thick shell of carbonate-skarn-quartz rocks. FinnAust s review of historical Sola drill core showed that the published resource estimate of the Sola mineralisation has to be based on just one approx. 3m thick massive to semi-massive sulphide intersection in drill hole Sola-3 at m depth, i.e. it must be considered quite uncertain and optimistic. No new description of the mineralisation can be given as the relevant parts of the Sola-3 core have been completely utilized in previous studies. The Sola SE 1 & SE2 area is associated with a relatively strong magnetic and EM anomaly situated separately to the SE of the main Sola area. The magnetic/em anomaly continues both south and north for several tens of kilometers. No historical claim reports or final exploration reports have been found. Furthermore, no reports on historical drilling or ground geophysical surveys in the Sola SE1 & SE2 area have been found. One small gneiss outcrop with moderate Cu values has been reported from the claim area. CONDUCTED EXPLORATION WORK No drilling, geophysical ground surveys or geological mapping was conducted by FinnAust Mining Southern Oy in the Sola SE1 & SE2 claim area during the period 11 th October st November A helicopter flown ZTEM survey was conducted by FinnAust in the Outokumpu area in June Three 17km survey lines crossed the Sola SE1 & SE2 area (totally approx. 2 line km covered the claim area) showing a relatively strong N-S striking conductor. This ZTEM data is part of the entire Outokumpu ZTEM survey package owned by and will therefore not be released yet. A preliminary re-interpretation of the historical geophysical (magnetic, gravity, slingram) and geological data was carried out in cooperation with Astrock Geophysics Oy. The exploration activities conducted by FinnAust elsewhere in the Sola area has been reported in for example the 8959_SOLA W Annual report for CONCLUSIONS The re-interpretation and modelling of the old geophysical and geological data did not reveal any evident ore potential targets within the Sola SE1 & SE2 claim area, and the claim right relinquishment application was sent to Tukes 21 st November Business ID Page 6
