Explain and interpret geographic variables that influence the interaction of people, places, and environments. 3. The interconnected nature of the world, its people and places. All Colorado Academic include specific 21 ST CENTURY SKILLS AND READINESS COMPETENCIES 1. INQUIRY QUESTIONS Sample questions intended to promote deeper thinking, reflection and refined understandings precisely related to the grade level expectation. 2. RELEVANCE AND APPLICATION Examples of how the grade level expectation is applied at home, on the job or in a realworld, relevant context. 3. NATURE OF THE DISCIPLINE The characteristics and viewpoint one keeps as a result of mastering the grade level expectation. These competencies should be integrated throughout the curriculum in all grade levels. An Important Note Geography helps students develop a framework for understanding the world, ultimately contributing to the creation of informed citizens. There are several approaches to development of a framework for understanding ones place in the world. This pacing guide allows for APS high schools to select from two approaches to developing this understanding within their student populations. Schools may choose from a regional approach or a thematic approach. Both frameworks consist of the same standards and expectations for student growth and understanding. You will find the framework for these curricular approaches below with the standards as they are assessed on a quarterly basis.
