Show their understanding of the location of places studied using vocabulary linking to the Equator and Northern and southern hemisphere. Describe the geographical region that they live in, identifying both human and physical characteristics- Hills, Mountains, rivers and coast, towns, transport links. Can use maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features studied using the 6 points of a compass and 4 figure grid references, symbols and keys (including the use of ordnance survey maps) to build their knowledge of the United Kingdom and the wider world. Use fieldwork to observe, measure, record and present the human and physical features in the local area, such as land use and traffic surveys using a range of methods, including sketch maps, plans and graphs, and digital technologies History (Yr 4/5) (Taught chronologically) Roman Empire and Ancient Greece. Use appropriate geographical vocabulary to describe the location of places in relation to the equator, both southern and northern hemisphere and the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
