At present scenario, we are interested in developing new strategy, based on cascade chemistry for the synthesis of alkaloid natural products and related compounds. Due to broad range of bioactivity and widespread occurrence in nature, alkaloids are most interesting targets in recent times.

3 Though, synthetic routes for the preparation of different alkaloids are reported in literature, still there are a lot of scopes to synthesize bioactive molecules applying cascade chemistry in shortest and efficient way. In our research program, main emphasis will be given on developing cascade chemistry to synthesize the naturally occurring complex and pharmaceutically active nitrogenous compounds (Harmicine, Crispine A, Vincamine, Nakadomarine A, Homoharringtonine). Another field of research is to develop new methodology-useful in synthetic organic chemistry based on the following areas. a) Visible light mediated organic transformations and its application in synthesis of bioactive molecules b) application of C-N bond formation in complex molecule synthesis.
